Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I didn't know where to put it.
I wanted to try litter training my guinea-pigs, I know it's really hard to do and it probably won't work but I want to try it so that it will keep their hutch cleaner for longer. I will still clean their hutches once a week like I do now but if it stops it getting a lot dirtier it will be better for my guinea-pigs. Anyway I got a small pet litter tray but I don't know what litter to use. Does anybody know what litter I can use?

Guinea pigs are not thought to be very easy to litter train but good luck anyway. Some people put hay in the litter tray to encourage them to use it, I use biocatolet on the floor of my hutches, it is a paper based cat litter that is safe for small furries. Regular cat litter is not ok for them at all. Basically you could just fill it with the normal bedding and put it in a corner the frequently go to the toilet in.

I fill my litter trays with cheap hay. They eat it and poop and wee in there at the same time. I empty them every day and the amount of wee in them is massive. BUT there are 6 of them in there so that's probably why it's so much.

They do wee and poop in other places too but I couldn't imagine what the cage would be like if they didn't have the trays now.

I also put the hay racks above the litter trays so they have to go in the tray to eat the other hay (the good stuff)

I use rabbit toilet corners with my fleece, filled with cheap hay and then good hay in the corners. they will still pee in their sleping places and poo everywhere, but the toilet corners take a lot off.

Ok thank you everyone, I know it will be difficult and I don't know if it will work but I want to try it anyway. I'll try putting hay in it.

I always wondered how people got on litter training their guinea pigs - now that I have a hamster and cats with their own litter trays......I'm thinking it's about time the girl's learnt how to do it too.
