Hi there, I just wanted to ask about my two guinea pigs, making things fun for them as the cold months are coming up. Being as my piggies live outside, obvioulsy in the summer they go out for a day in the run and come in at night, but not being as its getting colder and darker early theyre not able to get out at all. So how can i keep them occupied and give them excersise? Oh yes, and because they're hardly getting out theyre squeaking all day as they really want to get out and run around :(

Can you bring them inside for a couple of hours each day to run around the floor? That way they get exercise, but they can stay in the warm :)

Well the problem is, when i ever i bring them inside, they seem to pee and poo all over the place, unless i need a litter area for them..?

Hmm, have you got anything you could put down when they come in? Like fleeces or blanket etc, that you can just shove in the wash afterwards. Or any laminated flooring or lino that's easy to clean up? I don't really know what else to suggest, sorry.

mine live outside and I let them run on the landing up stairs, I shut all the be droom doors and have a safety gate on the stairs (But you can just block it off) I'm not too bothered about the landing carpet for some reason I just hoover up the poo and get the vanish carpet spray out for the wee. If you are a bit more house proud than me (lol) then just put some old towels down and put a cardboard box in with them wherever they are as they always seem to use these as toilet I have found!

Hi, I asked this question a couple of weeks ago and was advised that the elc pop up ball pool was an excellent idea if you didn't want your piggies to roam free in the living room etc.

The idea was you line the bottom of the pool with towels, shower curtain, picnic blanket etc and then fleece on top. Pop in a couple of hideys/tunnels etc and they will have a brilliant time!

Oh and the ball pool was on offer for £9!:))

I think you mean the ELC ball pit. I have one and it's great. There is a pop up pool too but I didn't think that was very good, not very high and seemed very flimsy and I am sure easy for them to get out. The ball pit was reduced to £9 from £18 when I got mine. It's well worth it.

I'm having the same porblem now I've brought mine in. I used to let them run about in the hall with the door shut so the cats dont bother them. I have laminate flooring and they do poop and wee all over it, I just wipe it up and if the dog gets there before me he eats some it! (yuk!).

How about looking on ebay? they have some playpens for pets on there, I'm thinking of getting one myself.

Plastic tablesloths work well too, the type you get in Dunelms that they sell off the roll.

Do you have a shed where you can put their hutch in?
My boys are outdoor boys but are now in the shed for the winter. They've now got a ramp that leads off from their hutch into a run which gives them loads more room to run around, plus they're safe and snug in the shed which gives me peace of mind. :)

I just got a ball pit from ELC, I called in on my way home from work and managed to get one that was left over in the shop from summer :))

Can't wait for my little one to go to bed so that I can put my girls in it :))
