Bonfire night has never really been a problem before for the piggies as neither of my immediate neighbours have had fireworks, and as long as they are all tucked up I felt they were safe.I have just found out my neighbour is having a firework party and am getting a little concerned for the piggies, bringing them in for the evening will not be a problem for me but will it harm them because of the temp difference,I am quite prepared to turn off all the heating so they don't get to warm,I guess I will have to weigh up how scary will it be for them in the shed against chancing bringing them in till his fireworks have finished?,any views or ideas....please
sammy xx

I would have thought that if you have the heating off all day then they should be OK ?

I think bringing them in for a few hours wouldnt harm them, I'm no expert though mine are indoors x

Could you not just turn the heating off in one room or if they are in a shed now put a black plastic bag over the window to stop them seeing the flashing and stick a Radio on in the shed :-\

Good idea about the black bag Graham, thats what I will do I think unless my chavy neighbours have a party but I doubt it as they have no children.

I would bring them in Sammy if you are that concerned. Turn heating off in one room. This is what I do when cleaning out the pigs and havee to bring them in from the shed. :)

I hate this time of year but I have to say I think mine are getting used to the noise as it seems to be a regular thing here. I would bring them in like every one else is suggesting its not for long really I hope they will be ok O0

Thanks everyone :) I think I will bring them in and turn the heating off, it's only really the night he has his party as they will be going off so close by,we have had fireworks going off here for weeks already and I've sat in the shed with them and they were fine,as soon as his party has finished I will pop them back in the shed with their heat pads, and hopefully there will be no ill effects :)

I am sure they will be fine, that sounds like a good idea and you will get extra cuddles :D

Well tonight is the night of nextdoors fireworks :'( so I have just made up the piggies temp accomodation for the night, the girls I have used their outdoor run on a piece of tarpaulin filled with auboise and hay, pigloos and toys and Jakie is going in a hutch in the same room ,I've set it up so he can still see his girlies :smitten: I am so excited I will have my babies in for the night...I only wish it could be a more permanent option but sadly not :'( :'(...maybe I will bunk in with them for the night ;D ;D

no you would not believe what chatter boxes they are, and personaly i think they are worse at night, and they blow off really loudly ;D :o

Thanks them ;D ;D.....I will put mick and jack in there then they can all guff together ;D ;D

lmao put them in a sleeping bag together and watch the float ;D

Can you buy piggy size gas masks? coz they'd need them ;D ;D

Ha ha 2funny My little black self made a funny noise on my lap last night but I convinced myself he can't have guffed (didn't think they did that! have had about 70 piggies and never known it before!) but now I realise he probably did. He'd just eaten sprout for the first time so it almost certainly was a guff!

Anyway I really wish fireworks were only sold to organised displays and not for any Tom, Dick or Harry to let off in their back gardens and disturb all the neighbourhood and upset the animals. There'd be less trips to Casualty too.

Hi clare how you doing hun ? they will be safely in the spare room well before tea time ...guffs and all, dilldog will be sedated shortly after that so hopefully he will be asleep before the fireworks start ::)
