Due to circumstances beyond his control (the fact that Ben kept chewing him), Garry is now on is own. He has always been a quiet piggy, and spent a lot of his time in his pigloo only coming out ever so often to eat. In a way, he seems more relaxed now he's on his own - he's easier to pick up and is more relaxed when I'm holding him, but I can't help but think he's lonely. He can hear the others from where he is and his behaviour hasn't changed. He's eating OK and now he doesn't have to run away from bigger pigs.

At the mo, space is a bit of an issue but I'd eventually like to get him a friend. So, I was wondering. What sort of piggy would be best? I was thinking maybe an older laid back piggy? (Garry is so laid back, he's almost horizontal!) I heard him clatter his teeth at Ben but not severely and I've never seen him fight or confront. Would an older pig be better? I thought a younger one might hit puberty and turn out to be another Ben and then I'd have the same problem all over again? :-\

Aww bless him, he sounds like Eccles! I would think an older pig would be best, one that is laid back like Garry. When you do decide to get him one I'd go to a rescue and see if they have any older boars to adopt. Eccles is the same, doesn't come out of his igloo only to eat. Pudsey doesn't bully him but I do worry he isn't happy because he is so chilled out and needs a bit of a cofidence boost.

Hope Garry is ok. He is gorgeous! :smitten:

Problem is there is no guarntee the next pig you try with him isn't a fur nibbler either. TBH I would have left them together and delt with the shorter version of Garry, lol! Some piggies do grow out of it, some don't fur is only a cosmetic part and it grows back.

In the end, it was more than just fur nibbling - he had some bite marks on his back and a nick in his ear. Ben wouldn't leave him alone and would chase him constantly, snapping at him. Minty then seemed to side with Ben. So, I thought for his best interests, he should come out before anything too serious happened to him. He just doesn't have the backbone to fight for himself you see...bit of a softy! Will just have to see what I can get sorted...he's pottering around at the moment quite happily. :)

Aww poor lad, he sounds like a softy. Most of my boys will definately stand their ground.

With having the 5 together at the moment there is always one at the bottom of the pack and that is Laban the youngest boar, he doesnt get picked on but he never gets in a scuffle and keeps himself to himself when Radley and Adonis are sorting out top dog *cough* pig!

I think you may need to find him a less dominant pig that wouldnt take advantage of his soft side. Perhaps a just weened boar who needs to be shown the ropes could be a good idea.

Awwww he sounds just like Dippy :), I think they would get along just fine ::). I was wondering what kind of piggy to get him as a friend as well...
