😱So I purchased a bag of Burgess Guinea Pig nuggets today and just opened the bag to feed my boys, and noticed a weird string looking thing come away.
When I looked in the bad was met with a web looking structure. My mind started doing over time searching for where the product was packaged thinking omg is it a spider from over seas.

Is it a spider or this other thing?(see pics)

Let me know your thoughts or if you have experienced this yourself?

And also what do I now do with the food?

Is it contaminated and now unsuitable for the boys?

Thank you in advance
Jaqs

I would return the food to where you purchased it and you should get a refund.

Also email Burgess to let them know. That is horrendous!

Thank you I will do that.
Nearly had a coronary I'm not a fan of webs nor spiders, and had visions of some big dude launching at me

That's not good!
I would expect Burgess to be concerned and apologetic, what if the problem affects a whole batch of those Nugget bags. I certainly hope they are!

I would put the bag and all its contents into an airtight bag while you're waiting to find out what Burgess want you to do with them.

Definitely either return to retailer or contact burgess. I had some odd hard lump in a 10kg bag of science selective food and took a photo to email them more out of curiosity of what it was. Turns out it was some wastage from the process that shouldn't make it in to the bag. They wanted to send a bag of food to apologise and I was thinking a small bag right because it's only part of the pellet composition so not like the bags contaminated but nope... A whole fresh 10kg bag arrived within a couple of days

Notify Burgess with the photos, l have founded them in the past,to be a very good company at resolving issues with their products.

I had a bag of Oxbow food that we found a hunk of glue and a metal nut in it. We contacted Oxbow, and they were horrified. They wanted pictures and all the information from the bag of food and purchase, so they could pass it to QC to make appropriate process changes based on the incident. They sent us a bag of food, a couple bags of treats, and I don't recall if there was anything else ... they might have paid for the vet appointment.

(The glue did actually make it into a guinea pig bowl, but it was untouched and no harm came to any piggies, just a vet exam to determine that they were fine and figure out that it was glue. (Only female pigs in the house at the time, so no possibility of boar glue.) The nut was found in the bottom of the food bag, which confirmed our suspicion as to where the glue had come from.)
