Hello everyone. If you have ideas for what to make the waterproof layer of a diy c&c cage, please share.

I have been using a shower curtain (lol) for my two piggies for almost as long as I’ve had them. It has just gradually gotten more tattered, and they like to chew the new ones I buy, way too much. Deep cleaning my current setup also feels like a hassle as I have to disassemble it.

Again, please share any ideas

Correx is usually used at the bottom of cages - is that something you can get hold of?

Not sure about Canada but in the US the sheeting is called Coroplast. There are various youtubers that show how to score and fit it. Scottie's Animals and The Pig Room spring to mind. In the US it can be purchased in Home Depot, I don't know if they have those where you are.

Thanks guys. Yeah they have coroplast/correx/corrugated plastic in stores here. It’s just more costly and last time I set it up it was meh. However, I think I have the right tools now and know what not to do

One of my piggies might be a burrower. I’ll also have to find out how to prevent that in this new setup

I use a coroplast base for my piggies followed by a layer of newspapers (I get them free from family & neighbours!) with a few cheap bath mats on top covering two thirds of their cage and a huge pile of hay covering the last third. My burrower pig lives in the mound of hay and seems very content!
