So have had piggies about 6 weeks . When first got them they were on just newspaper for a day then changed to fleece with puppy pads underneath but found my white long haired piggies was getting yellow hair round his butt despite giving him a hair cut. Have bathed them today and put puppy pad newspaper then loads of hay . Is that right or wrong ?
They are in a indoor run all day on a fleece and only go back in the cage at night time. Help
 
Is ghe fleece wicking properly? Synopses is pretty good as well and boss hogg swears by snowflake.Hope this helps
 
Personally I like the paper beddings (I use one called Soft and Comfy but not sure it's available where you live, as I'm in Canada.) I know a lot prefer fleece, but the paper works well for me and might be an alternative to newspaper or puppy pads if you don't mind buying it.
 
i feel your pain, my white piggy (mom was Abyssinian and pretty sure dad was Peruvian or another long haired breed) has the same issue. He's not even 2 months old yet and his short little legs mean he drags his bum/lower belly through his poo and wee spots and gets very dirty! He's getting his first trim and bath this weekend. I've never used hay as bedding or any wood chips as i find it too expensive to line their giant cage. I honestly think fleece is the best and honestly despite our best efforts as owners, the white piggies will show some dirty fur around their backside, i don't know about you but i have boars so the scent marking definitely doesn't help the white one stay clean! Theres mixed views on bathing but i suggest you limit bathing as much as you can as it can remove essential oils from their skin. If his dirty fur is your main issue you may want to trim it shorter or try wiping the backside down with some warm water every week or so depending how dirty the fur is and see if thats enough to remove the dirt without using any soap or requiring a full bath
 
My white abby doesn't seem to get dirty.I have them on towels and fleece and litter trays with aubiouse and hay in.Works great for me and worked well with my Peruvian girl who was whitr
