Hi!

While we have nothing against fun pet shows for charity causes, competitive breed shows have hidden aspects that we are not happy with and that impinge on our strictly pro-rescue/non-breeding forum policy, which we have had since the start of our forum.

You can find the exact reasons why in this thread here: https://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk...-breed-showing-forum-policy-explained.134670/

If you want to talk showing then there are plenty of other places you can do it. Just not on this forum. I’ve deleted your hashtags.

Blodwen pig agrees there are many unpleasant aspects to showing and show breeding, Blod's grandma and mum were apparently famous beauty queens... but Blod is very inbred, and possibly partially blind with tiny pink eyes, so she was deemed not pretty enough to breed or show. So she never got enough attention or food and when she got sick her show-breeding owner thought she wasnt worth the vet bills and she was taken away from her family and dumped in the free ads and given away on her own. With ringworm and dental issues :(
I'm sure not all show breeders are so awful but sadly selecting piggies for a certain perfect look can cause a culture of neglecting the rejects who arent pretty enough, who then end up dumped and homeless :(
