Is this OK for piggys I used to feed it to them.

But then read it can give them bloat.

But in the food guide it doesn't mention this at all?

And parsley is hige in salt? Ughhh they love it.

Half the other things are hard to get or I've never seen before.

At this time of year farm shops are running dry.

What I feed mine now are. Cucumber Bell peppers parsnip ( there's probably something bad about that) and the 2 herbs parsley and coriander.

Seems anything I feed there seems to conflicting advice about

Parsley is high in calcium and broccoli can cause bloat. Both are absolutely fine to be fed in moderation though, just don’t feed huge handfuls every day.

Mine get a bit of brocolli stalk most days and they love parsnip peelings but won't eat a piece of parsnip:hmm:. Cucumber, kale (in small quantities as it's high in calcium), carrot peelings, bell pepper, cauliflower leaves, rainbow chard, ruby chard, chicory (just discovered they inhale this), lettuce (NOT iceberg), courgette (as long as it's peeled), aubergine (egg plant in USA), Coriander (Cilantro in USA). Hope this gives you an idea of what to feed your piggies as this is what I tend to give mine in variation each day. Oh and they adore sprout peelings although they tend to be a bit whiffy a couple of days later :vom:

As this is a UK forum you should be able to get hold of most things on the diet guide. Big supermarkets should have everything but smaller and discount stores may only have seasonal veg

They love celery leafs. But u can only got them with a few on at the supermarkets.

Cucumber is high in calcium? I give them that every day..

They don't touch courgette. Cauliflowers don't really get alot of the leafs with them either.

I'll keep a look out for them chards.

Wish the supermarkets would do a pets corner section of veggies with most the leafs and stuff still on.

Hey! I think you read the previous comment wrong, Betsy was referring to Kale being high in calcium, not the cucumber.

Daily fresh veg that I'm pretty sure most piggy owners aren't afraid to admit they're still learning about themselves. I've only recently got a veggie diet that I feel is good for the pigs and also works well for me.

Every day each pig will get, a romaine/curly lettuce leaf (if it's a small leaf from the centre I may give 2 to each pig), a slice of red bell pepper (probably about 1/8th - 1/10th of the pepper and ensure seeds are removed), two slices of cucumber each, 3 sprigs coriander each.

Alternating on various days throughout the week and depending what is left they will get a mixture of:
Green beans (one per pig), tomato (1/8th) - this can be acidic and high in sugar so I only give max once per week and small quantities, the rest of the tomato will be used in my sandwich or salad, parsley (2 sprigs per pig), 3 slices of carrot, spinach, spring greens, kale.

The second list, would mostly be fed no more than 2-3 times a week, apart from the tomato. I know my pigs like this mixture and it prevents waste and buying food they don't like.

Thanks for the tips. This can be all abit confusing at times lol

Anyone give them turnip?

Mine get broccoli sometimes, they make a terrible mess with it!

Mine love beetroot and celeriac too. Lots of it in shops in the UK at this time of year.

Don't be worried by their pink pee after eating beetroot.

Celery leafs and broccoli stalks are a big favourite with the girls and the odd carrot top. Herbs are very popular!

If you have a farm shop or small independent greengrocer near you, try asking them if they have any cauliflower trimmings you can have. If caulis come into the shop with the leaves still on, they often remove them to tidy them up, then the leaves go in the waste. I often get cauliflower leaves and carrot tops from my favourite greengrocers, sometimes they give me other stuff as well.
