I have a male Guinea pig who's about 5 years old. He hasn't eaten or pooped since Saturday. Up until about yesterday he was still acting interested in food and isn't really acting lethargic or anything. He also hasn't laid down/sprawled out in a few days. I took him to the vet on Monday but he couldn't find anything wrong. At first I thought it was his teeth, which the vet checked out and clipped, and he also gave him some hydration. The only thing he mentioned was that the lymphnodes were a bit swollen but wanted to see if what he did worked first.

We got home, still nothing, and nothing on Tuesday-Thursday, so the vet prescribed baytril, so he's now had 4 doses and nothing has changed. I'm not sure how he's survived this long without food/his cecal pellets. Of course this all happens a couple of weeks before I'm going to give him and his brother away(my allergies can't take it anymore) to a guinea pig rescue and something is making me wonder if he somehow knows? I know that sounds crazy but he loves food!

Has this ever happened to anyone else's pig? Or does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong with him?

It sounds like he make have a gut issue such as bloat if he is not pooing? He has not poo'd at all?

He needs to see a good cavy savy vet. Whereabouts are you based?

The vet clipped his teeth?
