I’m new to starting a chatting thread as opposed to asking questions but I thought it would be fun to have a thread of what your pigs favourite food is and how you know? I got the idea because I have noticed that my Kronk will not eat a single other veggie until he has checked that there is definitely no more coriander left in any bowl! He also get really annoyed and not eat for a second if I don’t hand feed him some coriander before I put their food in the bowls 😅 Kuzco on the other hand does not have a noticeable favourite, if it is food he will eat 😂

My piggies favorite foods are their pellets, green pepper, and banana! I wake up to extra excited piggies every morning because they know that's when they get their pellets. They zoom, squeak, bite the cage, etc. Green pepper always goes first when the veggies come out. Sometimes I like to feed them veggies by hand and they will snub the lettuce and cucumber until they get all of the green pepper! My pigs can smell banana a mile away. In fact, I was eating a banana the other day in my kitchen when one them got a whiff of it from the living room and started squeaking her ears off until I offered her some! I have accepted that I cannot eat a banana all by myself in this house ever again 😆 While they don't get it often, they do love their fruit. I think for their birthday next year, I am going to try to make a tiny little layered "fruit cake" comprised of one thin banana slice, one small grape slice, and one tiny pineapple slice!

My pigs have varied... Hadley really, REALLY loved bananas. She would go nuts if she could smell bananas in the vicinity. My other pigs have not been as easy to figure out... but cucumbers have been popular, parsley has been popular, Sundae really liked grapes... Oooh... and watermelon. Another infrequent treat, but most of my pigs have loved watermelon and canteloupe. When Sundae was a baby and still completely terrified of us, she actually climbed right up my shirt to get a piece of watermelon that I was trying to eat!

Mine love grapes, coriander, carrots and cherry tomatoes 🍇🥕 Apart from coriander they don't have these often, and get very excited when they do 🥰

Our boys LOVE coriander. Hamish will eat most things although turned his nose up at the corn on the cob I offered once. Hector is more fussy, and will sniff pepper multiple times in hope it may magically turn into something else, then decides to have 1 tiny bite!
🤷🏼‍♀️

Percy and Pepper love to be hand fed some coriander as a starter. Then for mains Percy likes green pepper and Pepper likes green beans. Then for pudding its hay, hay, hay. Lettuce is always left until last.

I put an add on my local neighbourhood site and asked if anyone was throwing away any carrot tops so I could give them to my guinea pigs. Someone replied! Percy and Pepper were so happy. And they were from Waitrose! 🤣

Odi really loves tomatoes. My late Nicky was crazy for bell pepper.

Billy is an allrounder when it comes to food. If it is edible she will at least try it. The only exception were tomatoes at first, but she discovered her taste for them during the sommer months.

With my lot it’s coriander and cucumber ( the first piece of which has to be hand fed!)
They also love dill, parsley, celery and salad leaves.
Micah is very partial to red lettuce.
They all love their very occasional piece of apple.
Then there’s the pellets and forage ( herbs and flowers ) and pea flakes
The only things they’re not really fond of are lambs lettuce and dried leaves.

Tico has very strange tastes. Looks offended at coriander, doesn't even recognise peas as a food item. The other week I got some sweetcorn cobs and she wolfed the husk and the hairy stuff, but wouldn't touch an actual piece of sweetcorn. However, eating anything crunchy near her gets you shrieked at. The first time I ever heard her say anything was when my friend ate an apple by her cage. Last night I walked past eating a piece of carrot and got massive wheeks. Not helped by her being off veg for a few days...

For our boys it’s herbs, coriander, mint and basil if I give them lettuce before coriander they will wait for me to bring the coriander, they are so smart!
