When can i bath my guinea after her op

Hi my piggie fudge had an operation to remove 3 masses on her stomach on 23rd dec and she got the all clear for now this mon. She is becoming dirty as she tends to wee where she lies without moving she needs a bath. When can i do this as the op was on her belly? I have tried using wipes but its not removing the wee and cleaning her coat like a bath would, I have gorgeous guineas posh and go could i use that and when?

I haven't had enough experience to pass judgement on this one, but hopefully someone who has will reply soon. I hope your piggy feels better soon x :)
 
It is still very soon after her surgery to put her through a full bath. A warm washcloth with a little shampoo on (not enough to lather the coat) is preferable until she has had more time to recover. Despite being given the all clear, she'll still be a little weaker than usual and susceptible to other illnesses.

Hi.

when our beloved Deiliah had a large op as she had a toumour, we ( my hubby and I ) made up her cage as follows.... half of her cage was hay and half was made up of a cut up flannelete sheet and we cleaned the cage out at first twice a day then once a day. We were not allowed to bathe her for at least 4 months as she had had a huge op and had stitches all the way up her tummy.

Once Delilah had more strength she cleaned herself. Like you thought we used baby wet wipes but you must not get the stitches/wound wet at all.

You must ask your vet was we did.

You will gather from this Delilah had her own cage , she was next door to he sisters cage,and a guinea pig who has had an op its best to keep your piggy in its own cage so she/he can rest as sleep is very key after an op. Having other piggies around the poorly piggy does add stress.

Like your beleoved pigggy our Darling Delilah did smell this went after a few weeks as she began to wash herself. The key thing is to clean the cage at least every day , we were as i said cleaning the cage twice a day. I cleaned the cage while my Hubby held Delilah.

After any op your piggy needs LOTS of TLC and care.

Sorry to hear about Fudge's operation. Bless her!

I would be very careful about giving her a full bath in this cold weather, unless she is an indoor piggy and can be kept warm afterwards. Also if she still has stitches then I would be reluctant.

However, if the wounds have healed nicely and she is smelling, then perhaps a little rinse in warm water, would make her feel nicer. Just rinse the very minimum of her body, towel dry gently, then blow dry, and keep her warm for 24 hours afterwards.
 
thanks for all your replies guys she is an indoor pig and lives with her husand scooby he even went to the vets the day she had her op
