hi , just want to ask when I can bath my guinea pig after mites treatment ?
today I give him first pipett so have to give another one in 2 weeks time and another one in 4 weeks time
could you tell me should I wait until the last pipett will be given or I can bath him in next few days or any ideas ?

he looks very silly now and " dirty "

and another question ..
when I bought my guinea pig he weight 230 grams - they told me he is aprox 10weeks....
he is now 280grams so is growing :)
but what I read here is always really bigger weight for smaller guinea so I'm really confused how old could be my boy ?
and if not by weight how I can check how old is he ?

Unfortunatly there is no real way to tell how old a guinea pig is. Atleast not an accurate one. If a guinea pig only weighed 60 gramms when he was born, it could take much longer to get to 230 than a piggy that weighed 110g when born. :)

How long have you had your piggy?

It does seem unlikely that he would be 230g at 10 weeks old, unless he was fairly ill.

However, as long as he puts on weight each week (it is best to weigh weekly as this can be an early warning for illness) then i would worry too much about his age.

Is your boy living on his own? Piggies really should be kept in pairs as he will be very lonely.

thanks Connie :)
I bought him nearly 2 weeks ago and I weigh him every week so it was 230 -250-280 today :)
he wasn't very ill but he had sore back so vet give him antibiotic for 1 week and today give him more for next few days and this mites treatment
he looks really well and is very happy so I'm not really worry about him it is just confused but probably will never know ...

do * know anything about first bath after treatment ?

he is alone now but I'm playing with him 3 times a day so it's not bad , I have to wait few months until can think about piggy friend for him and don't have really choice now :(

I would be VERYYY careful bathing him as he is obviously very young
(sory, i forgot to include that in the first post)

Wait a little while if its not urgent.

Hopefully someone more experienced can tell me why, but I'm sure you should bathe them untill they reach a certain age. :/

Might be wrong.

*shouldnt

Chrissy at Gorgeous Guineas told me they should not be bathed if they are under 12 weeks old :(

I would say if yours weighs as little as that he is only 4-5 weeks old, I would have thought far too young really to be homed as a pet. My piggy was over 300 g at 6 weeks old for comparison. I would be extremely reluctant to bath him as he is such a light weight & young age.

Generally you should always wait at least 48 hours after treatment before bathing them though.
