I am very glad to announce that Tegyd is now officially part of the Tribe after a third afternoon session on the lawn during which I gave Hywel full access to the run.
However, there was the inevitable show down between Hywel and Tegyd. I needed a towel at the ready for a tense couple of minutes (that is when this clip stops), but thankfully, it all ended with a step down instead of a fight.

Dominance established, Hywel has wisely not pushed matters any further. I would not be surprised to see Tegyd becoming one of his favourite ladies eventually!

It has certainly been a rather nerve racking afternoon. Tegyd is back in her next door pen to the big cage, by her own choice, but she has had all she can take for today. We are already fully into the dominance phase, which is very difficult to handle for a piggy like her. It will probably take another 2-3 weeks until Tegyd is fully settled. Like so far, I have to take it in her own stride.
This has been by far my most difficult Tribe bonding to date; the others were all pretty straightforward intros without any major problems after a two day settling period. But in view of Tegyd going blind from cataracts, it is worth taking the risk and the time to provide her with a supportive group of friends and an understanding home.
