Since I've had my boys they've been gradually putting weight on - nothing drastic just a few grams every week and they are now both over 1kg

As far as I'm aware the boys should be turning 2 around February/March time so I'm wondering now when/if I should get concerned if the weight gain continues? I think it's starting to even out as Sam is same weight as last week (still need to do Frodo's weigh-in) so it's maybe already happening.

I can't tell if they've got any bigger in size since I've had them but they certainly don't feel like they're getting fat at all.

Thanks

Usually pigs start to decrease their weight gain when they reach adulthood, around 12-18m (I think) Some breeds I think can continue growing for a little longer.

It isn't unusual for them to gain a little weight, particularly if there has been a change in diet etc.
Providing it is only a few grams I wouldn't worry, weights do fluctuate before and after feeding and toileting. The difference between a full and empty bladder is around 30g, so this may also be an influence. My 21M old is still putting on some weight even now, so don't worry.

Thank you! I've not been too concerned as I know it's more weight loss that's more of an indication of health concerns and felt they're probably fine as long as they're not too fat for their frames.

I'd not considered the bladder thing either, I'm always conscious to weigh them before their veg but hadn't thought that there's still the fullness of bladder to take into consideration!

I just thought I'd better check just in case I was making a mis-presumption! I believe they're Teddies with a bit of Aby in them and have read before that they can put weight on until age 2 and as they're rescues I may not have the exact age right so I'm sure I'll see them even out weight wise soon. They just look so tiny compared to lots of other piggies! They're just as lovable though!
