Where Do You Buy Your Guinea Pig Supplies From That Don't Sell Pets?

What a good idea - it's one of my obsessions, never supporting any shops that sell animals. I use the local farmers stores and Amazon. I've never been in a Pets at Home - but have been saddened by the number of garden centres cashing in on the impulse pet buying trade.

I get my supplies from Collins pet foods here in Northampton. They don't sell pets, but they do sell undersized hutches and that really winds me up too!

It's a pet hate of mine too. When I see firms selling these I contact them and they usually get quite nasty about it. There should be minimum cage/hutch sizes written down in law for all animals.

There should be rules but unfortunately If someone wants a smaller cage they will prob just buy a different animals cage eg putting a guinea in hamster cage etc ... but at least it would show what is acceptable!

I buy my nuggets from Asda or chemist direct and my hay from a man who delivers it in bales. prior to this I used to buy my hay from dust free hay :) and tubes come from the carpet place or chubes from wilko :)

Sorry it's taken so long tot get back to this thread, things been a bit chaotic this week. Here's the place I go to for pellets, they also sell hay and some toys and bowls but that stock can be variable.

I also use hayforpets for my hay and fitch recycling for bedding. Oh and various tgpf members for fleecies!

I use VetUK alot, if this hasn't already been mentioned, amazing prices for Xeno, heat pads etc. Also, Zoo plus has a great range of cages for the beginners and lots of deals. I buy my hay from my local Range store, huge bags for £3.99.

We get everything from a farm near us which does food for all sorts of animals which is quite good value- 15kg food £10, Jumbo size dust extracted wood shavings £8, bale (and I mean bale) of hay £5 all of this is enough to last us about 4-6 months depending on the weather.
working in London aswell I am never short of free newspapers to line the hutch with :xd:

I get my from the A22 pet store, they don't sell animals and the owners are really interested in yours animals welfare and are really helpful. Their like a small family run pet shop.

I get my shavings and bales of hay and excel nuggets from them for about £20 all together.

The bales are pretty heavy and if i can't lift them the guy is always happy to bring it to my car... in-fact sometimes he insists on it!

Also they offer delivery at one pound if your in a 10 miles radius of them, which is handy when I've got no time with work.

So if you guys live in East Sussex i would HIGHLY recommend them!

I have 2 to recommend in the Sheffield area ...

1) Acorn pet Supplies - 65 Deep Ln, Sheffield S5 0DU - very near Meadowhall. I call in personally and find the staff very helpful. They also have a website http://www.acornpetsupplies.com/about-us

2) Donald Cooke - website http://www.donaldcooke.co.uk/fish_small_animals.html

Plus .. Argo feeds (Penistone - nr Sheffield) is very good for bedding . website http://www.argofeeds.com/ I bought a big bale of Aubiose from there for a very good price + a multibuy of Readigrass which worked out at £2 per bag. Too much for my piggies really - but I gave the surplus to local rescues.

I've found an invaluable supplier of snowflake, nuggets and hay called dawns country store in Wallingford, oxfordshire. She beats any price around here and there's always someone there to load your car up

I used to use TFM (bridgnorth/Shropshire) for bedding & feed, which was very cheap :)
now i just use the local independent pet shop for hay, and they order in the science selective nuggets for me! any toys or meds are bought from viovet/zooplus

Thanks to all who have submitted so far. I'm still compiling a list & will get back on with it as soon as pressures of work & the piggy train allow x
