I shopped at Lidl last night for their veg and got quite a bit, I bought 6 peppers, some Pak Choi for a pound each (is this an every day food? They very much like it anyway!). Got loads of other bits too like brocolli, cucumber and celery.

However there isn't a massive choice with regards to leaves, I can only seem to find rocket at the Spar and it is extortionate there!

Are there any websites or shops I can bulk buy then it isn't costing me so much?! :o

I buy my veg from Tesco's or you could try your local Green Grocers.

xx

Thank you, we have a Tesco down the road, good idea with the greengrocer, the pigs can play with the brown bags too! :(|)

I might even start growing the stuff, would be so much cheaper! :(|)

I shop at tesco, asda, lidl and aldi. You could try looking in the reduce section as ive got lots of bargins from there. I was in tesco earlier and found baby gem lettuce for 6p for two! Or buy a bag of mixed salad just make sure there is no iceberg in them. Good idea to grow your own but isnt it best to wait till spring?

I get my shopping delivered by Sainsbury's once a week so most of it comes from there. I also have Basil and Coriander growing on my windowsill and I pick grass in the orchard.

I feed the whole pak choi and they love it (I take it by whole thing you mean just tearing a whole piece of like you would for celery etc?). I only feed it about twice a week and not on same day I feed cos.

I grow a lot of my own fruit and veg, shop in Tesco and also use a local farmer I know with a veg shop.

I also planted an apple and a plum tree this year. Can't wait for those (the plum actually produced one plum this year!).

Wow! I'm very impressed with your veggie plot!

I'm useless with growing stuff although do manage basil, parsley and corriander on the window sill. The rest of our veg comes from Aldi or the market.

Thank you - although not looking so nice now - veg beds and greenhouse all need a good clear out now. Few carrots left for the piggys and some parsley, lots of savoy cabbages growing at moment so piggys can have some of that, lots of brussel sprouts and lots of leeks. Still waiting for the cape gooseberries to ripen!

Even if you aren't big into gardening there are lots of things you can grow in pots or even seed trays for the piggys - cress, various types of grass, in pots you can grow strawberries, carrots (need a deep pot), radish, beetroot, lettuce etc. I'm going to try fennel next year as my piggys all love it (and so do I).

I grow grass and parsley on my windowsill (just harvested the first grass!). Apart from that they share veggies with me (and I steal some parsley from them sometimes when they're not looking). I have a weekly organic veggie box subscription. It's fantastic for a vegetarian with three guinea pigs but no car :p

I read that aldi has cucumbers, cabbage and carrots for 29p this week. Will popping i ti get some tomo.

I was very impressed with Morrisons the other week, I went to my moms which is 2 hours away and has the closest Morrisons to me, going in their for food to cook us for Sunday dinner I thought I'd do some veg shopping for the guinea pig as he was off his usual dry food and being low on money I thought my mom wouldn't mind paying =P

Anyhow, the carrots were 1KG for 30p, broccoli was 39p and so on. I thought wow could really do with a morrisons in my town, we have everything but that and aldi, I don't find Lidli cheap =[
