Help I'm confused! I have been giving my piggies green pepper every evening since I have had them but I have just found out they are high in oxalates! Should I give them different coloured peppers aswell? I know they're high in sugar which is why I have been sticking to the green :hmm:

Peppers of any colour are fine, but just give them a small piece (about 1/6th of a pepper) the red and orange ones have more vitamin c, and mine prefer them.

Mine only eat red peppers. Really hate orange and hide it in the poop corner. Might nibble yellow a bit if there's no other food left. Personally I hate the taste of green peppers and I have a general veggie rule that if I dont like it I wouldnt inflict it on the piggies or snails! Red peppers are really good, in moderation, like 1 or 2 thin slices per piggy 2 or 3 times a week- mine are having red pepper and beansprouts for dinner tonight because its human stirfry dinner :)

So if I feed them green pepper every evening but change it 4 some coloured a few times a week that'll be good? I'd hate 2 think I was concentrating on sugar content too much and then end up giving my piggies stones!

Mine get all colours on a daily basis. Please don't worry about the sugar content. My Ellen was diabetic when she was younger. Thankfully she is now in remission after we changed her diet but my vet gave me the go ahead to feed peppers daily when we were coming up with meal ideas

Thank you everyone. I am a bit of a worry pot when it comes to the pigs

I think just variety in the diet is good, and a bit of green, red and less concentrated veg (beansprouts or cucumbers) every day is good. Just mix things up a bit and surprise the piggies with new stuff when you can- sweet potato and spinach once a week, broccolli and apple once a week, peppers and beansprouts, cucumber and carrot... coriander whenever you have some and they notice you bought it and wheek at the fridge...

Mine love green peppers more than the other colours. They will red, but not sure yet about orange or yellow!
I also try to mix things up but it could just be a personal choice like us humans.
Try just giving them a little of anything new, with nothing else, for them to nibble and get used to the smell and taste.
I like to think I saved my two boars from the pet shop as all they ate was hay, cabbage and nuggets, nothing else!
Over the last 2 months, I've slowly introduced different foods and I've defiantly come to know which they like more.

Mine get a variety of veggies for breakfast but I tend to stick to just peppers in the evening cut up into bite size pieces so that we can chill out and have some nibbles in fronting the tv together :D

I didn’t know piggy’s could eat bean sprouts

They quite like beansprouts, as in some days they eat them all, some days they eat a few, and some days they look at them like "what the heck is this, I asked for fruit!". I feed a few beansprouts (like 8 per piggy?) with a bit of red pepper and some spinach or coriander when its human stirfry night :)
