So I bought my boys some white chocolate. It says its for guinea pigs and small animals, but I've noticed that some things shops have said are okay are not.

So just to be a careful new mother, I was wondering if they are okay and if so, how much should you give them and how often?

Thank you =)

I never come across that and would rather think it's yet another gimmick, frankly! Chocolate = sugar + fat + dairy, none of which is good...

Ohhh. I see it in pet shops all the time around here. I know my last guinea pig used to adore it. He'd squeak so happily for the stuff.

But now I'm older and know more about chocolate, its made me question if its okay.

Pet shops sell lots of chocolate drops / sweet corn sticks / things with lots of sugar in which are really not good for them. A little piece of fruit occasionaly like melon or grapes or a handful of readi grass is a much more popular treat and much better for them.

Thank you.

I won't buy anymore. I thought it was best to ask =)

I don't think it will have done any lasting damage, but it's probably better to avoid it in the future. If your piggies like sweet things, ocassional sweet fruits like grapes, strawberries and blueberries will be a nice treat for them.

Thank you Tracy =)
Yeah I only planned to give them it like on special occasions, but if its not good for them I won't.

They seem to be more happy with Vegetables anyway. =)
I saw yogurt ones at the store today as well as brown chocolate. I've seen them in three different shops now so I'm surprised no one else has asked this question.

Luckely my lot don't like pet shop treats.. they always turn their noses up.. I thought i would treat them to a treat stick you hang up.. or even a hay bell.. they didnt even nibble either of them.. so i just stick to veggies and fruit is a treat for them with their readigrass which they love :))
