Why don't we talk about Cavy Shows ? I've met some great people there, who obviously love their animals and are a wealth of knowledge. We seem to talk about everything else - so why not Shows ?

Quite a few people are against showing animals for their own reasons. So we don't talk about it :)

As I have said earlier I am not anti breeding or anti showing (obviously not!) but as this forum does not agree with these, I do not mention it as that would be disrespectful to the members.

Yeah I'm not against it if its done responsibly.

I just follow the majority too and i know that quite a few people on here are against showing animals so i just don't mention it.

I'm not against it at all, but think my piggys are all winners anyway so why go to the bother of showing them lol, if any judge disrespected my fur balls he would be doing the squeaking,
i have friends who show their pigs and are totally loving pig owners so know you cannot judge all breeders and showers the same,

I agree. I don't think people who show their pigs are bad irresponsible owners. I just think that the owners get more out of showing their pigs then the pigs do themselves. I hate just taking my pigs to somewhere new like vets or over to my mum's incase they think I am taking them away from their friends or getting rid of them. I also think that all piggies are beautiful and like Kats Cavies has said in another post that some people try and get the perfect pig instead of putting the welfare of the pig first. I know a lot of people show their piggies for fun and don't take it seriously however I think the owners get more fun out of it then the piggies do.

Some pigs do seem to enjoy going to shows and will show themselves off on the judging table. Abbysinian boars seem to have a whale of a time, they usually get randy and start rumblestrutting around the judges table :D
