New Born Pup
I just adopted a 7 week old baby and he refuses to eat any veggies except carrots. How should I introduce the new foods to him?
Thanks so much we have an older boar (7 months) that we are going to introduce to him in a couple days. I think it will be a good idea to give him time to adjust. I will definitely introduce veggies slowly and one at a time!Is he on his own? if so, then please look to get him a friend ASAP. Guinea pigs need to be kept in pairs, they are highly social and get lonely if kept by themselves. At 7 weeks old he is too young to be by himself
They also learn from each other, so if he has a friend, then that would help him learn what is safe to eat.
If he is a pet shop piggy, then they often aren’t given a wide variety of veg, so he simply won’t know what else he can eat. Introduce new veg slowly, one at a time, so you don’t cause a tummy upset
Carrots are too high in sugar so only feed one small amount once per week. Ensure hay makes up the largest proportion of his diet.
