Hi all just need peoples opinions really, i have a boar, age unknown as he was a rescue, and earlier this year i thought he had a bladder stone due to all the usual symtoms (he had an UTI ), but he had an xray which showed his pelvis was out of alignment with his spine, the vet said this shouldn't cause him any problems and try to keep him active as possible. (the vet also said this injury was due to him being kicked or dropped)

Now this is my problem, when i put him out with his brother for there daily run around in the lounge he just sits under the coffee table! I gave him a bath about 3 weeks ago and noticed that he actually enjoyed swimming around in the bath! do you think it would be a good idea to give him a weekly swim in the bath? Its not something i've read about before so not really sure if it would be benficial for him?

Swimming is supposed to be good for piggies if they enjoy it - keeps their joints supple. Peter Gurney also recommended it for piggies that had had strokes. If he enjoys it I don't see it being a problem. My sow used to love going in the water. She would happily kick her front legs whilst I held her under her tummy. When it was bath time she would wonder up and down the bath, having a little splash :))

Hydrotherapy may be worth a try. The water supports the joints and should help keep his body supple. If his hips are misaligned somewhat then it's especially important to keep him active, as I'd wonder if he'd be more prone to age-related bone diseases. (Osteoporosis, degenerative joint disease etc.)

If he enjoys it, then it's worth a try. Just be sure to dry him thoroughly!
