Adult Guinea Pig
Has anyone visited this place? The guinea pig village that's in there is a disgrace. It all looks very nice when you first walk into the barn - about 6 or 7 different pens with somewhere for them to hide and plenty of hay and dry food to eat. However when you get closer you realise that there are far too many pigs in each of these pens and they have males and females mixed together - resulting in many of the pigs appearing to be pregnant grrrr
Not only that but I saw a few pigs in there with injuries blatanltly caused by fighting because of overcrowding.
Also there were absolutely loads of babies there in with all the adults, they looked only a few days old too and they were scared by the noises and constant motion of children coming in and out.
And dont get me started on the 'handling' guinea pigs. Poor things looked like they had given up the will to live after being poked and prodded by children who were not being properly supervised. It was shocking.
I have written to the RSPCA to ask them to investigate and i'm going to write a letter to the farm manager too to try and get them to seperate the sexes and stop the constant pregnancies that some of these poor pigs are going through.
Very very sad that a place that is supposed to care about the welfare of animals should think it's ok to let these pigs live in these conditions.
