Jo, my heart missed a beat when I spotted Wilma and Fred's threads. Big hugs and lots of healing vibes coming your way.

Wilma's eating is not great despite being topped up she's still losing weight but on the plus side she's still excited about food.

She's really bright which is great new's, I think there's something going on in her mouth if she's lost anymore weight when I get home from work I'll be trying to get a vet apt tomorrow. :(

What is she weighing? Has she lost much?

Last week she was 915 grams, and now she's 822 grams. I know I should expect some weight loss but she really does seem to be struggling with her food, she's more than happy to eat the syringe food which makes me think there's something wrong in her mouth.

Sounds like Wilma's problems aren't quite over yet! I hope you can get her sorted soon and she starts to gain some weight.

Wilma is also heading back to the vet on Friday her eating is verging on non-existent she's still very bright and will run to me to get the food just the eating of the food does not happen, we've been giving her some time to learn to eat again unsuccessfully. She has a lot of med's including pain killer's, gut stimulants and a mouth gel just in case there is something going on that's perhaps causing her pain. The vet was unable to see any obvious cause for her problem's so if she's still off by Friday she'll be going under GA for the vet to have a proper look.

She's doing very well with her syringe feed and happily laps it up, this morning I found her on a huge pile of poops but she's still looking pretty fed up. It'll be a good day when I'm able to stop giving her medicine and she's able to maintain herself again on the bright side she hasn't lost anymore weight :). x

Has she had an x-ray to have a look at her tooth roots? Love to Wilma x

She'll hopefully be getting the works done on Friday, we need to find out what's happening in her mouth! She's not had any real tests done yet originally she had a dental and we put the bloat down to her mouth been sore. I've spoke to the vet and he advised we'd be looking to put her under GA check her teeth and also do some Xrays to try to find out what's going on.

As for the GA it's really not a concern for me I'd rather my vet was able to have a good look than miss something because the piggy isn't staying still enough. I've had so many Ga's done on my pig's that I really don't worry about it! x

Pitch had 3 GA's done for her back teeth, sometimes needs must. Better to get every base covered so you know what you are dealing with. I really hope you can get some answers and find out what is troubling her. You must be really tired out at the moment. x

I totallying agree, I just hate leaving them, I'm working 12 - 8.30 which is a long time for poorly pigs I'm thankful that both are still nibbling. I've been feeding them last thing at about 12 and then re-feeding at 7, 10 and 9.30 so managing 4 feeds a day some how, I am however starting to question who I have medicated and who I haven't. They have all the hay they can wish for as well as hard pellets, soften pellets and also critical care in there cage to keep them going.

Sick pig's are hardwork I had a semi breakdown last night, it just feels like P all over again, at least Fred has a very obvious problem and I have managed to rationise it's not forever just for now. Seriously does put me off getting any pigs in the future I really do struggle with sick pigs, I do however know it's temporary my hat goes off to anyone who volunteers for this task like Debbie P, Suzy and all the other rescues I just couldn't cope with poorly pig's all the time!

Pebbles, on the other thinks she's died and went to heaven. There's so much food! She has gained a serious amount of weight since her friends poorly!

Have a hug Jo, you are doing so well. Your such a dedicated piggie slave and I know how deeply you care for your little ones. It's awful when you get two poorly at once, it's double the worry, the syringe feeding is so emotionally and physically draining and after a few days it really knocks you about doesn't it. I too have utmost respect for Debbie and all people out there working at rescues caring for sick piggies.

Hopefully after the vets on Friday, you can start to move forward and get little Wilma well again. You've had so much to cope with piggie wise over the past few years, things have to improve for you surely.

I laughed out loud at Pebbles, she'll be a little chunky monkey and be demanding extra food after all this!

Big hugs from us both x

It isn't easy looking after poorly piggies, and you're doing a fantastic job Jo! You can never completely switch off, and all the time you're away from them they are always on the back of your mind, no matter what you are doing or how busy you are. I really hope Fred and Wilma will soon be on the road to recovery. x

Wilma is still poorly, I spoke with the vet this morning and asked if she could go in tomorrow instead. I decided to see just how interested she is in food when I put the hay in she ran over but didn't appear to eat any, I've increased her Syringing so I'm a bit of a Zombie. She was fed at 10, 12, 3, 7 and 10. I know she can eat soggy nuggets so left some of them, along with a bowl of Critical Care. She didn't want any veggies this morning, she took a slice of carrot very thin slice but wasn't able to eat it. She is sitting in a kind of sleeping position, slightly hunched dosing.

Now all I need to do is arrange there lift home from the vets tomorrow.
