Winston's settling in!

Some of you may have seen my thread on Wed/Thurs about adopting a new guinea pig. Well, he's still a bit jumpy with when we move about or with noises, but he seems to be settling in very well. He even sat and let me cut his nails yesterday (with a lot of lettuce!) and he was extremely well behaved!

We've also started discovering his likes and dislikes! He wasn't keen on the Burgess Excel original pellet - I think they were too big for him; but our fussy piggy likes the Burgess Excel Blackcurrant and Oregano!

Our piggies usually get free run of the lounge when they get floortime as they always pop back to their cage if they want to poo or pee and then come back out. They'll also go back to their cage of their own accord when they've had enough. Since Winston probably isn't used to floortime yet, we've been setting up the run in the lounge a lot for him.

I'm so relieved he's settled in! When you come near he does run into his log hidey most of the time, but when it's veggie time you can't get him away from the front of the cage! When he's in the run, he just follows me back and forth.

I can't wait to get him a friend after summer (we are getting married in Florida in August so I'm worried that I wouldn't be able to devote the time to bond them before and then I'd have to leave them) and hopefully he will find a new forever friend - although he has been chattering at the other two when they had floortime! Naughty!
