Hey everyone, looking to pick your brains again. One of my piggies gets wood shavings up his bum... Seriously hah. Anyone else had this? Just odd ones, and bits of poo too.. Stinky piggy. Wondering if we can do anything to help him or just wash him with lukewarm water as and when. His toilet habits are fine etc. Cheers and yep know how weird this sounds!

I don't think there is any way of stopping it happening really. I don't use shavings myself. Are they indoors? you could switch to fleece or Vetbed. If you still wanted substrate then I recommend Fitch.

I don't use shavings because they drag their little bums around, but they still manage to get hay stuck up there then I have the lovely job of plucking it out.

Thank you - I'll look at my options, their bums smell yuckKkkk!

It's the same with mine.. his bum stinks all the time!
I wipe it often but it just doesn't help...

I've tried just about everything & I'm now using Puppy Pads laid on newspaper with a layer of hay on top. They're reasonably cheap, a box of 40 in Home Bargains is £4.99. In a 6x2 c&c run I use 6 3/4 pads. 4 x whole, 5 x 1& 1 x 1/4. So a box does nearly 6 changes. I change them every 4 to 5 days for that size run with 5 piggies.

Stewybus i do the same but am having to change the pads every 2 days as they are covered in wee. is that normal?
