Its been 2 days now that my piggies have started letting me hold them! I couldn't believe just how long their nails were getting and I was getting very worried that I was going to have to take them to my vets who charge a fortune!

I was just about to make a post asking if anyone would, or knows somewhere that would cut their nails for a reasonable price when I thought to myself, lets just try it, whats the worse that could happen.

So I bundled them up in a small cut off of fleece and went for it. I managed all 3 of them, and in about 10 minutes all their nails were trimmed!:))

Both Pebbles and Smudge's nails were very long and I didn't want to hurt them, so I only took off the tip. How often should I take off the tip to get them back down to a reasonable length? I was thinking every week, but I am not sure.

I am so happy! Once I had finished them, I started shaking really bad. I just feel like my body is in shock! So yes I had to share! Piggles nails are cut! :))

well done! it can be a bit of nerve wracking experience but it sounds like you've got some very well behaved piglets!

Well behaved? I suppose yeah, both Misty and Smudge are, but Pebbles, well you pick her up and boy, does she scream the place down! It did seem that wrapping her in the fleece did calm her down quite a bit. I did leave her to last on purpose. Didn't want a bad experience on my first go!

Well done of you!

It is largely a matter of practice. Some piggies will never cooperate (some can be real divas!), and others will be just great.

well done! It is a lovely feeling. I trim my girls nails once a month.

10 mins for all three is very well behaved!

It sometimes takes me 10 mins and a lot of blanket arranging just to get Mr T's back nails done mallethead ...wiggly little blighter.

WOW! See once I had them snuggled in the blanket, took one leg out, 3 or 4 snips and 10 seconds later, done! I thought do it quick to stop them getting too stressed. Once the leg was out of the blanket, they didn't move at all. Guess I am actually lucky with 3 well behaved piggies then even though I thought they wern't!rolleyes
