I stupidly thought that January wouldn't be as cold as December, but it's very cold. It was 1 degree yesterday and now I'm worrying about this new guinea-pig. I am not allowed to have any guinea-pigs inside at all, so I can't do that. The new piggy will be 6 weeks old and will live in the wendy house with my other 3 sows (all over 1 year old) If they get along well when I introduce them to each other, will the older sows look after the new guinea-pig, and will they cuddle together at night?

I have a snugglesafe for them but I haven't used it yet because I've been worrying about them relying on it too much, but I think I'm going to give it to the guinea-pigs soon. I can also make them some beds. Will they be ok? I know the older guinea-pigs are fine in there, but this new guinea-pig is so small and I'm worried about her staying warm.

Personally, I think the new guinea pig is far too young to be outside as it is a baby.

I have had guinea-pigs outside before, I had an accidental litter born whilst living in the garden in hutches, so I think she'd be ok in the wendy house, but I've never had a new guinea-pig at this time of year so that's what I'm worried about.

When my Erin was six weeks old, she went in an outside hutch but it was at the very end of March 2010 and was relatively mild plus they had snugglesafes, fleeces and beds. Could the people you are getting her from hold on to her for a few more weeks if you explain the situation?

There's a few layers of wood if that makes sense, and they have a few layers of tarpaulin and newspaper, then their bedding in the run. I have bought an extra little house for them to sleep in too. What else can I do?

I think it all depends where the baby is currently. If the baby is outside in similar conditions then i would say as long as they are kept warm as possible inside, it has to be your call.

If the baby is currently inside, or in a heated shed, then chaning the temperature could be very dangerous for such a small piggy.
