Hi all

I recently posted about my poorly runt piggy who passed away and now Ive been closely watching mum and the other 3 babies.

Mum is looking really rough, if a pig can look rough. Her fur is very puffed out and she looks a bit dirty, like she isnt taking care of herself.

She is nursing the babies and eating her pellets and greens, but she doesnt seem to be touching her water. The levels not dropping much in the bottle overnight. Ive replace the bottle incase its blocked or faulty.

As a newby piggy owner, is this something that I should be concerned about? Little ones dont appear to have grown much but theyre only 6 days old, they are also eating well and are always under mum, suckling i guess.

Is she just tired from the birth and tending to the littles ones or could this be a vet job?

I'm not sure on this one hun but I would say if your worried take her and the babies to the vets. Someone more savvy will come along but sending loads of hugs for mummy x

I would recommend strongly that you take her to the vets. I wouldn't like to even guess at her problems but she will need help. Please don't wait.

The babies should be growing well by now. If you can, lessen the load on mum by soaking some nuggets in some boiled water, babies usually enjoy them, mum may too.

For a cavy savvy vet in your area I would contact Sophiew, a member here - this is her website, a phone will the quickest.

Checked babies over last night and their bacl legs look stained, the fur is a little clumpy. Is this where mum is cleaning them or is there were mum is neglecting to clean them?

They could possibly have the squits and mum is cleaning them as best she can - they all need to go to the vets ASAP! Please don't wait!
