As some of you know I currently have had my 2 boars Freddie and Splodge in one cage for some time, the OH came home with Sandy a lone boar a few months ago and he has been living alone. Well since the weather has been nicer I have been letting all 3 out in the garden together for some supervised play. They were all out today and happily sitting together eating grass, I had just done a deep clean of the main cage and was due to put in new fleece so we decided to try and pop all 3 boys back in together to see how they would react as a trio @)

They have been in the cage now for a few hours and there has been a lot of rumbling and mounting but nothing that seems too aggressive, Splodge is keeping to himself like he always has but Freddie and Sandy have been intermittently chasing each other and there have been some head raising matches. At the moment Freddie is flaked out Sandy is happily chatting to himself as he explores.

I am now scared to go to bed! mallethead mallethead

Would you say I would be ok to leave them with these initial signs?

I don't think you will get much sleep anyway, but if things heat up I'd say you would hear them!

i wouldnt personally but i would spend all night worrying and probably wouldnt get no sleep. 3 boars rarely get on well but not unknown definately be careful

it would be so much easier space wise if they could live together! I have just put a bowl of veggies in and they are all sharing nicely. Think its going to be a long night!

:(|)... I think you won't be getting much sleep :)!

It does sound good though :). What ages are the boars?

Who needs sleep when you have the chance to sit up all night watching piggies?

Ah well, no work tomorrow!

They are all random ages which worried me, Freddie is about 4, Splodge 2 and Sandy about 4 months!

It is worth trying if they have been getting on out in the run. As they say nothing ventured, nothing gained! As long as they all have escape routes and places to go to for space then it looks really promising.

I hope you don't end up with three single boars! I think trios only generally work with the very young (prehormonal babies) and the past it i don't care anymore age group. Personally if you had a pair that was happy i would have left well alone, but only you know your piggies and the situation.

Best of luck!

Exactly! Piggies are better than any amount of sleep. Ever! :))

I really hope it all works out. They sound like they're doing alright.

Oh my goodness ... I do this every night, seriously!
My bed is right next to their cage, and when I'm having insomnia I will often sit and just watch them potter about for 2 hours straight. It's strangely soothing. Even rumblestrutting has a relaxing quality and it lulls me to sleep. :)

They are theraputic to watch when they arent fighting!

Splodge has always kept to himself, he is the most laid back pig I have ever met so I have no concerns with him, at the moment Sandy is just constantly mounting Freddie, they both flake out for 5 minutes then he starts mounting and rumbling again! I guess the fact they lie next to each other is a good sign though.

I have put in extra food bowls and everyone has a hidey, fingers still tightly crossed!

That sounds like half hearted manlyness to me! They feel the need to rumble and protest but are secretly quite content to be together!

Patrick says adleast your boys don't have to pee on demand he's awful shy :)).

I'll watch for crying and you can watch for fighting! :))

Now I'm worried with Freddie's age all this running around isn't good for him rolleyes good old piggy paranoia

I really should go to bed as I have major GP things to do tmrw! Collecting piggies and taking a carfull of cages down to Hels. However I am keen to hear how the boys are getting on and if pigs are still weeing and crying, it is all so tense!

I am sitting on the couch reading about other people watching their pigs, I may need to get a new hobby!

My babies are sound asleep and would be most unhappy if I disturbed them for my own entertainment!

Does that mean we are free? Typical that the pigs are partied out before we are! It sounds as if your bonding may have been a success, fingers crossed the happy atmosphere continues!

Thanks! Fingers crossed, they are up again now rumbling again, give it a few minutes and I'm sure they will be off to sleep.
