NEW GUINEA PIG OWNER! I have two approx 4 month old female guinea pigs. One of which is acting very strange today. Eating/ drinking though as normal. Nothing changed to routine. Little fighting with other female. Lying down, less energetic than normal. Odd noises and body language, turns butt to other female while making weird noises. Plumper than the other female, but not overly.
Please help, am new to this. Getting concerned.

The noises and body language sounds like coming into season/dominance behaviours. At 4 months old, they enter their teens

How long have you had them? Did you double check that they are both female? (Hopefully they are but it’s always best to check for yourself)

Weigh your guinea pigs every week to ensure they are eating enough hay. Hay makes up most of their daily food intake and you can’t judge that they are eating enough of it by eye so weighing them is important.

Thank you very much, very helpful. I'm going to start weighing them definitely

I've have them about a month, and had them health checked and sexed at the vets when I got them.

Thank you
