Hi

I've had my piggies for a couple of months now. They are still only babies at 6&9 months old. They have been eating non-stop, drinking plenty and run around popcorning and generally pigging around. They are both healthy weights and getting heaver each week.
Do you think its worth a trip to the vets just to get a general health check up for them?
Also, how much do these check-ups usually cost?

Thanks :)

Edited your title :)

I would personally not bother, if there is no cause for concern - but get them registered with a good piggie vet, if you haven't already done so. No point is stressing them out for no reason.

Only 'Worth a Pet visit' but I knew what you meant lol

It is always worth to register with a good vet, as illness often comes as an emergency. The first health check is usually discounted. If your piggies are young and healthy, I find that a yearly MOT at the vets is enough.

As I have four piggies, I take them altogether for nail clipping and they have a health check at the same time.

I think the most I have ever been charged is £20 for all four but I have been going there for a number of years.

I'm not sure what other vets charge.

I certainly recommend a yearly checkup.
My pigs all went in for their yearly checkup about a month ago, all my piggers were happy and healthy. Though during the checkup, My vet felt a lump on Meeka's left ovary, she had a cyst and displayed no symptoms. Meeka has since had her ovaries removed. If I hadn't had taken her in, I'm positive I would have lost her.
