I have a 11week old boar i got him when he was 8weeks old and the bonding with my other two boars have been going great, that is not what i am worried about though what i am worried about is that he hasn't obviously lived outside at all yet but has been gettin exercise outside in the run, and was wondering if anyone thinks he would be fine living outside just yet or if i should wait till he is a little bigger?

it depends whether he's going to be living with the others or not, I wouldn't put out a baby without someone else to snuggle up to. Also, would he be in a shed/similar, or would he be totally exposed to all elements? As the weather seems hit and miss, I don't think I would put him out yet :)

My 7 week old boys live outside but I always cover them with a big thick vinyl sheet on the night and they have loads of bedding, If it gets colder again though I will bring mine back in, guineas like warmer climates! Hope this helps! Maria

he will be with my other two boars in a hutch i have blankets that i have already put out for my other piggies so he wouldn't lack heat as my other pigs are fine and they get on really well so would have my other boars to snuggle into.

this weather is driving me mad as it can be really hot for a few days and then its cold and wet so its a bit of a pain trying to judge wether he would be OK outside or not i don't mind him being indoors but he is alone indoors but has plenty of running about outside with the other boars i just wish i could put him outside so he could have the company of the other boars all the time and not when it is sunny outside. ::)

oh i also forgot to add the hutch has one of them hutch snuggles out of P@H which jeeps in heat as well

He should be fine.i have a animal that lives outside but..when it looks like it is going to storm i bring her inside.but i think he will be fine.

have you introduced him to the others slowly? as he should not be left alone with the other two until fully bonded. also from what i have learnt hear 3 or any odd number is not good for guinea pigs as 2 can pick on the one. and by introducing another boar can mess up the bonded pair, it would be better if you got him a little friend. also he will be going through the teenage months soon and his hormones will be all over the place. it is just my opinion but i would leave your bonded pair as is and get a friend for your little on and keep them inside till fully bonded. am sure others when they wake up can give better advice than i can. good luck and again welcome :smitten: :smitten: O0

Mary has said it all O0
Bonding must come first, then you can see how that goes and then if all goes well, he should be fine and others have said, make sure lots of bedding if it gets cold :)
Good luck :smitten:

If your other two boars have accepted the little one then it would be no problem putting him outside with them as long as your hutch is warm and sheltered from the elements.

Keep on checking on all three regularly to see if they are still getting on allright when the little one hits his teenage stages. Hormones can rage in funny ways and they might not like to be a "trio" anymore. Just be aware of that.

Friends of ours have five boars living together and it works well.

well i have been bonding him with the others as i have already said and everything is going great which is why i was wanting him to be outside so he can get company from them all the time and not living alone.

if i had the space to get him a friend the same age roughly i would but i am about bursting he is my limit as i really do not have any more space for any more and it wouldn't be fair to over cramp them i will put him out today and see how it goes and check him regularly to make sure the older boys are fine with living with him and hopefully everything will be fine.

I have just put the little one outside with my boars i have been regularly checking on them and everything is going great I'm off college tomorrow so will be at the house all day so i can make sure there getting along tomorrow as well O0

i will take some piccies tomorrow of them in th garden for you all to see O0

when i checked up on them earlier i noticed the baby iv called him theodore he was already given this name when i got him, he was hiding under the blanket with the other two boars so they are all getting aloing great, which i am really pleased with. O0 :smitten: :smitten:

Take extra care at keeping an eye on him. If I'd seen this earlier I'd have told you not to put him out yet. You're just down the road from me as I remember and the temperature 2 nights ago was 3C, 16 in the daytime. That's a big dip.

yeah I'm taking extra care of him the have tonnes of hay and a blanket and also eachother to snuggle into so he should be fine as i said before I'm off tomorrow so if any need to bring him back in it can easily be done.

i will be checking him first thing in the morning to see how he is if he is still OK i will keep him out and if hes too cold then i will bring him back in.

if the weather changes drastically for the worst in the next few weeks then he will be straight back in. O0
