Xeno 450 6 Pipettes Ivermectin Spot On

Depends on the pigs weight I think it's 3 pipettes per pig if I remember rightly.. I had to buy 2 packets for 3 pigs, as you need to reapply it 14 days after first dose and then a month... (3 per pig, per treatment) :(....

I have used that a while ago, but it was packaged differently. Think it is the same though. You use a certain amount of drops per pig/weight, I think the tube had 30 drops (ish) in, and an average pig used about 12 - 14 drops, so one pip did 2 pigs. You should hopefully be able to do each of your pigs twice, if necessary with that, if it is the same one I had. xx

In which case I'm surprised my pigs aren't dead, I'm pretty sure it was 3 tubes per pig?! :x

Ooo gosh, so it works out to be quite expensive!

I can't find a particularly good write up on it :{

Is it sold in shops? So I can have a read of the packaging. I need to go to P@H - Do you know if they would sell it?

If you click on the data sheet at the bottom of the link it gives you the dosage. xx
Mine is different to Joannes though, because 1 tube does 3 kg of pig I think it says.

Jane it's ok I didn't overdose my pigs, your right :)... Thank goodness!

All information is on the data sheet at the bottom of the link page. :) x

Some people treat routinely for mites. I only treat a problem. Maybe others could comment more on this though. x

Mine have never been done, it didn't even occur to me that they would need doing. Until I read a thread the other day :{ Bad piggy mum.

I've only ever seen Beaphar Ivermectin Spot On in PAH. I've never seen Xeno 450 in pet shops but it's the one recommended by my cavy savvy Vet.

Personally I would choose Xeno 450 over the cheaper Beaphar product. I used to use the Beaphar one as it was cheaper but, from my experience, the Beaphar one has been a false economy as it seems to be an underdose and the last few times I've used it it has proved ineffective. I've recently given several applications of it (2 pipettes each dose) and it still hasn't fully cleared the problem so I'm now having to buy some Xeno 450 as well anyway! I should've just bought the Xeno in the first place. Grrrrrr!

If you're treating an active mite problem, repeat the dose on day 10, and if necessary day 20 too. For a routine treatment, one dose once every three months. :)

We use this in the rescue. I haven't used the 450 one but we have used the mini and the 500 (just depends what we can get at the time) It tells you how many drops to use based on the size of your animal on the box. You treat them then treat them again 2 weeks later. I only treat them again 2 weeks later If I had seen fleas. If I haven't seen any and doing it as precaution and another piggy in rescue has had them I only do it the once.

We have never had any problems with it. We also sent some up to Hels when they took a lot of piggies from a big rescue we done and never heard anything bad back about it.

I got some of this and some Xeno 50 Mini (for the babies) from my vet yesterday. Didnt have any problems with it but I did notice (after using them) the Mini ones (because I got a box with them) had an expiry date of 30/04/09 - almost a year out of date so I hope its still effective. rolleyes I've no idea if the adult ones were in or out of date either (no box ) but I might buy the next dose online.

Worth taking the box to the vet and showing them it's out of date, bit daft if they are prescribing expired medications! Innocent mistake I'm sure, but it's worth highlighting it to them so they can check the rest of their stock. rolleyes

Yeah I agree - I am going to go there tomoro to let them know.... rolleyes ... we'll see what they say....

I treat mine every 3 months and I use something different but I have used Xeno 450 and I am sure I used one pipette per pig and then again in 2 weeks. I had to buy a few boxes.

I now use ivomec in a big bottle - it's for cattle and I give a very small dose of that orally as it works out much cheaper with my 10.
