Hi,

Have guinea pigs that were around 7 weeks old when they received xeno 50 mite treatment. Followed the manufacturers instructions and gave 1 pipette to those under 250g and 2 pipettes to those around 300g. This seems like a big jump however and 2 weeks later 2 have passed away due to possible neurological conditions. Could this be a side affect to the medication or an overdose?

Many thanks

I’m so sorry to hear this.

I’ve not used the 50 before so have just looked up the instructions.
From what I can see 250-500g piggies are two pipettes.
Piggies 200-250g it’s one pipette
Piggies 200g or less should not have a full pipette (they have 12 drops or less - a full pipette containing 15 drops)

If you’ve followed your vets advice and instructions then technically it should not be an overdose buts it’s not possible for us to say what actually occurred in your case.

Were mites diagnosed by the vet and the dosage confirmed by the vet?

Thank youbfor yoyr reply.
We spoke to the vet previously as we were concerned about mites and they advised xeno as a preventative.
