hi please can someone just clarify I am reading the instructions correctly.

Pumpkin weighs 526 so that means she needs 3 pipettes today then in 2 weeks time another 2 then in another 4 weeks

They are not the best instructions to be honest. I rang the vets in the end and asked them haha. They said 3 too but you know as she is o it just over 500g and still a baby I only gave 2 pipettes.
 
She should have 3 pipettes every time to ensure the correct does is given. She should have 3 doses spread two weeks apart.
But you should always re-weigh right before you dose her, just to confirm her weight has not changed dramatically.
It is also important to give the recommended dose, particularly if this was confirmed by the vet.
By giving her less, it may not be as effective, and could end up requiring more doses in the long run.

It was good you called the vet to confirm, and it would probably be a good idea to follow their instructions.
 
Thank you. I think it was the receptionist or the nurse. They just read the packaging in the box. I just wanted to confirm as it seemed a lot. And she is only 11 weeks.

And I was scared in case she had a reaction.
 
Each pipette contains 50 micro grams of ivermectin (in a carrier oil).
The safe range for a guinea pigs is between 200 - 400 micro grams per kilo of body weight.
Your girl weighs just over 0.5 kilos, so a safe dose for her is between 100 and 200 micro grams of ivermectin.
This is calculated to be within a very safe range, whilst also being most effective.
You have given her 2 pipettes, which is only 100 micro grams of ivermectin, which is slightly under the minimum dose for her weight.
If you give her 3 pipettes (the recommended dose) she will still only have had 150 micro grams of ivermectin, which is still 25% less than the maximum possible dose for her size.

It is very important not to overdose and you are right to be careful, but by under dosing you run the risk of not curing the problem completely. This can also cause resistance to these treatments, making the problems harder to treat in the long run.
