I know hay balls/dispensers are frowned on, but this looks like it could be a bit of an enrichment toy too. Credit card was the only thing I could find that would give an idea of size.

If you want to use that kind of thing then as long as the bar spacing is safe and if is made of safe wood, then that is fine.

Personally, my piggies find nothing more enriching than simply a large pile of hay throw directly on the cage floor. They run in it, sleep in it, eat it. It’s for this reason that I don’t use any type of hay holder.

Totally agree. I’ve tried all sorts in the past ( usually have to modify things to make them piggie safe though - I wouldn’t want my guys getting stuck in those bars for example). But they prefer good old hay piles the most.

I hide some veggies in and around the cage each day to encourage foraging. I think there’s lots of ideas you can try for enrichment without having to spend lots of money 😊😊😊

You mean I should not have spent 167$ today on the furries? I swear I spoil the animals more than the kids.

Couldnt resist the cat toy sales. Got extra hay and bedding because it was a BOGO sale. Then saw toys for the piggie. And bought more grids to redo the cage for a future friend.

By all means spend money! My fur babies are spoilt. I’ve probably spent more money on my piggies, dogs and horses than I have my house! I’ve just figured out what they like and what they don’t over the years, and quite often I find it’s simple things they like. Too many places sell toys that are actually quite dangerous. I bet you’ve come across it when buying for your cats

I come across that with all animals actually. But I did stumble in a cute enrichment toy for the piggies. It has natural wood chews on ropes. It has extra spits to hang veggies from too.

Love the sound of that one 😊
