One of my guinea pigs were limping so we took him to the vet but now, 2 days later it is wet and a little bit yellow, he does have pain killers for the leg and will go back after the 7-10 days of it if not better.
Does anyone have any advice? 👍

What was the diagnosis for his leg?
If he isn’t moving as much due to being in discomfort then it is important that his pain meds are at a good dose and given twice a day as they metabolise pain meds quickly, but also that you change out bedding very regularly to ensure he isn’t sitting on wet bedding.
This guide will help with care information while he has limited mobility

They said it's probably just a bad bash and doesn't want to do an unnecessary x-ray as it would obviously be a risk and I clean out the two litter trays daily which have shavings and he spends alot of time and I change the fleece when necessary and spot clean daily. The medicine is given once a day as advised by the vet it's only a pain killer to make it a little more comfortable ☺️

While there is limited mobility due to an injury, you will need to change the area is sitting more than once a day. If he isn’t moving around as much, then that can explain why he is appearing to be getting wet areas. Clean him with a cloth as you don’t want urine scald.
Keep an eye on his pain levels - you’ll have to see how he is, if he is in discomfort then once a day pain meds possibly won’t be enough - piggies metabolise pain meds in about 12 hours and knowledgeable vets know this and prescribe pain meds twice a day. Keep an eye on his weight to ensure he is eating enough - being in pain or discomfort can stop them from eating enough hay (so you will see a weight loss during his weight checks).

I do weight once a week and will look into the medicine more if u r saying that once a day isn't enough and he is currently a healthy weight thank you for the help 😊

Whether he needs more pain meds is something to bear in mind but it depends how he is coping and how severe the injury is . Once a day wont be enough if he is in lots of discomfort - reduced food intake can be a sign of that, but It might be enough if it is only minor and otherwise being used as for anti inflammatory purposes. Youll just have to see how things are. One of my piggies developed a minor limp back in the summer due to an injury (I think sustained through jumping on and off the roof of his huts) and he was on meds twice a day.

Thanks for the help 🙂 and he seems to be improving just a little wet and stinky I'm going to wipe hime down and see how it is if it's still bad I will probably need to bath his feet as it's his back leg and he kind of needs a bum wash anyway soon 😜
