yet another fleece bedding question sorry

how do you remove the hair from the fleece? i brush it down shake it about have a handheld hoover that doesnt seem to pick the hair up properly then it goes in the wash and is still full of hair :{

the 99p fleeces i told you about are rubbish! my little rascals had nibbled a big hole in them and they have frayed in the wash grrr the asda £1.77 fleece seems much better and is on at the moment :))
 
just use your hand and dustpan and brush, always does the trick. Also try waering rubber gloves as can pick it up more too
 
You could always you the lint roller you use on the couches or other furniture when you have a cat or a dog.

The cheaper version is use some wide sticky tape to get the stubborn hairs up they you can't brush off.
 
I use a dust pan brush to brush all the hay and hair off then after the washer, i put it in the dryer and the lint trap catches a lot of the hair
 
I brush it off, shake it outside, wash it in a pillow case and then shake it again outside. I've got fleece blankets I've been using for over 2 years so it works for us.
 
you shouldnt use straw with piggies as it can damage their eyes if pokes them. Use hay only and you will need this with fleecing, its part of their diet!

I have a hi bac litter tray which is where i put their hay so it doesnt directly go on the fleece, making it easier to clean - also my upper level of c&C cage is lined with newspaper, carefresh and hay, which they love!
 
I ment hay, i get really confused as i have different bedding for the rabbit.
The staff at P@H actually said don't use hay, or sawdust as its too fine. Just use woodshavings and line with newspaper.

i like the thought of the littertray with the straw. i think i will do the same thing.

Wouldn't use shavings either to be honest. Take a handful of them and rub them into your skin then imagine having your nose stuck in that all day. Not nice.

I also have a couple of litter trays with hay in but I also have hay racks above so most of the hay isn't peed on.

So would shreaded paper be okay? I am just worried my room is quite cold so i want him to have something to snuggle in.
Or should i just use Hay?

you can use shredded paper, but can get wet very easily from their wee and smells. I would use carefresh, aubiose, someting like that, and put hay on top!
 
I had to use hay as bedding over the weekend cos all my fleeces were damp after being washed & poor smudgie ended up with a long piece stuck in his bits...poor lad .I was wondering why he squeeked when I picked him up. I'm now going to make sure that I dont have to use it as bedding again, & just put the hay in the hay ball & cardboard innards off the loo rolls for them to eat.I've put some old coats in the hutch the guineas love snuggling into them.I also ordered a snugglesafe heatpad last night so I bet their hutch is going to be warmer than my house as we are not putting the heating on as much.

My piggies are now in big hutches in our garage (no car or fumes btw!). But I'm worried about when it gets colder. I was thinking of lagging the outside of the hutches in carpet or something. They have the lavender hutches from Pets at Home but the winter covers for those are £60 each! If I have to, I will get them, but am hoping for a slightly cheaper alternative!
 
I ordered it online from vetuk.co.uk. It was £16.99 with a free cover & free p&p. (they are £18.99 in pets @home without the cover). It was dispatched last night so I should receive it in a couple of days.
