Here's the thing. My Trek has had a sore as you might well know. I put it down to adding them to their new outdoor hutch and Puddles taking the chance to be the boss. I have watched them very closely the past few days (they're back indoors as it's not quite warm enought here) and can't see any evidence of them squabbling but I sense something.
Puddles is recovering from a nasty bout of mites that took away a large section of of his hair, is still very very scared of me and has had a lot of things to put up with (2 hour there and back from vets every week, days at mother in laws while I was away) while he is only just coming up to 3 months old.
Any way I decided that enough was enough and I was going to scupper this 'sense' I had that all was not well. Off I went, gathered towels, put quite a bit of water in the bath, gathered them both in their small wooden box, toddler in tow and took them into bathroom, closed the door and out they went into the bath.
Now I am gaining in confidence all the time and today super confident mum lead the way and rubbed their GG shampoo on their back. I cuddled them and held them lovingly while I massaged their backs in turn. They really revelled having each other in the bath (doing them seperately before hand was much more panicked). They allowed me to hold them and put their trust in me (Trek does anyway) but I am so pleased with how Pudles was so calm.
They were both sat in their little box while I cleaned out their cage. No rumbling, no nothing, sitting side by side allowing my little girl to stroke them and feed tem carrot.
I put them back in their cage and kept taking my hand in and out slowly and giving them a little tickle on their heads in turn and Puddles didn't flinch (not sat still in fear either) (I have done this time and time again with Puddles to try to bond but nothing!) he was calm. I was as if he knew he could trust me now.
To top it off they're sitting in their hutch together hiding under one of their beds. They've shared carot and I even saw them both chewing a piece of hay at each end without a tug of war as I have seen a stand off in the past.
I'm not saying that i'll never have problems with my 2 boars again, in fact I have this real awful fealing that as they get older they will need separating. All i'm saying is I have defused a situation for now and an added bonus Puddles and I have finally seemed to click tonight.
A glass of wine all round
