Zoe's Grease Gland

Hi everyone. For the past couple of days Zoe has had a greasy rump. I've had a look around the forum and it seems to be her grease gland so I will give her a bath tomorrow as it's a bit late tonight. She's the short haired lovely in my profile picture. My only concern is this seems more common in boars than sows and long haired rather than short. She isn't smelly. Should I be concerned?

No need to worry! Overactive grease glands happen in sows, too. Just not as often as with boars. With sows it is often just a phase rather than a regular occurrence. A bath tomorrow will be enough. Grease glands are not very smelly.

No, some of them are just greasy! Sundae is a short-haired sow as well and her grease gland is very overactive... sometimes it's not that bad, but other times it's really greasy and I'm cleaning it every few days to keep the hair underneath from matting together. Ironically, I've never even been able to FIND the grease gland on my long-haired girls.... on Sundae, you can't miss it!
