Hi guys, I mentioned on another post a few weeks ago that I was going to try the JR farm hay on the german zooplus. It's about €15 for 14kg I think and it's really good for that price.
I'm sure it's not as good as the really fancy hay that people get, but if you're on a budget then I'd recommend it.
It's pretty green and my guinea pigs loved it! They've always just been on normal pet shop hay, but this is way greener and the just dove into it and devoured it all in no time! (Well not the whole bale, just the bit I gave them of course!) And it's not giving me allergies too, which is good.
It's quite big so I've put it in the bunny shed so they can sit on it and eat it away, but they won't pee and poop in it hopefully, because they're that bit smarter than guinea pigs! Is that ok to have it in with the rabbits and still use it for the guinea pigs too? The only other place I have for it is either the garage (and there would be fumes that might taint it and also I'd get hay all over the garage and my dad would be mad) or the dogs' shed (and I tried that before and the dogs ripped up the hay and threw it around everywhere and then peed in it!)
So yeah, I'm really happy with it and so are the pigs and rabbits, and it should last me a few months really and was cheap.
I also got 25kg of woodshavings (not on zooplus, but are suitable for small animals) for €10 last week, so I'm saving so much money.
