Hiya,

I've recently switched to fleece. I like this because I find it less messy. I've made my own fleece liners using some wadding, mattress protectors and fleece. Has anyone used Zorb fabric to make them as the absorbent layer? I'm worried about the fleece remaining wet and the piggies sitting on it, I don't feel the under layers I'm using at the moment are very absorbent. I'm cleaning the cage fully twice a week and removing poop/hay twice a day. I also have made a couple of smaller pads that I put in where they sit, I want to make more so I can change these daily but need to decide of the absorbent layer. The wadding was some I had left over so not 100% sure of the material but it seemed absorbant when I tried it. I bought bamboo wadding for the smaller pads.

HI - the ready made fleece liners I buy have zorb in the middle and they work fantastically! i dont know if its just one layer or not - its pretty thick - there's fleece, then the zorb and then fleece again on the bottom and ive never had any leakage through to the bottom. i have also found that it retains smells less than the bamboo liners I have. I do also use smaller liners in the "high traffic" areas.

I used zorb in some pee pads and it worked well. Just as well the liners I made with a mattress protector in between b

When I make fleece liners I never put a layer of waterproof fabric in as it’s containing the wetness in place. I use a layer of newspaper under the liner so any moisture is wicked away from the fleece completely. I have never had trouble with damp fleece liners by doing this.
I think waterproof material is great for lap pads though but not for cages liners

I have some new liners with Zorb in and so far I'm really pleased with how well they absorb.
