:yikes: Anyone any idea what bedding i could try for my hamsters when I run out. Still got some of the 10/7kg Fitch left. I’m using back to nature in the piggies litter/hay trays.
I have a large hay tray which I line with a puppy pad and then a thin layer of fitch type bedding, then hay on top. Mine love burrowing in the hay and although it’s quite wasteful, the rest of their cages are fleece so it’s not too bad. I buy hay by the bale too which is cheaper than pet shops etc.
I just bought the Kaytee Clean & Cozy from Amazon. It'll be a back up for me just in case fitch bedding 20kg would still be out of stock by next month.
...so drying might be an issue.
our 3 pigs live indoor in 2 large living world moving cages that have been joined together
we have used fitch until it became a silly price, moved to megazorb and found that had a bad smell. Next was auboise which felt messy and the pigs didnt like it. Am now...
...causing respiratory issues as shavings are so dusty even if they’re extracted. My friend uses it for her buns and when I’ve looked after them I feel like I need a mask aha. I’ve heard other bedding is better like fitch, auboise and hemp are a lot better but I’ve never actually used them myself.
...and I wasn't allowed sawdust in there anymore. So I've now been looking into different beddings and I've pretty much decided on a mixture of fitch and finacard. I have a few questions before I take the plunge and buy large bales of both.
First, how much mess do they cause around the house...
...need the vitamin c tablets.
How about a run? For indoor and/or outdoors?
I really liked aubiose but can’t use it long term. I’ve never used fitch but I’m sure you can get others’ opinion if you do a search.
Lastly, I’d find out what pellets they’re currently on and buy that. Then you...
I stopped buying Fitch ages ago after what I'll describe as a debate with them swapped to aubiouse which my hamsters love and dig in etc...
Can get a bale of aubiouse for £9 at the farm shop which they lift into the car for you. Just use it for the hamsters as piggies on newspaper and hay.
Absolute rubbish blaming supply - it's paper ! they've just added a nice selection of 4kg bags for £15. It's pure greed !
I have been using Fitch for years and am absolutely fuming as overnight they've just doubled the price. Now need to find a new source of bedding.
I use half fleece liner (with absorbent inner) and half Fitch paper bedding with newspaper underneath and they also have a tray lined with newspaper and filled with lots of hay (i use seed trays from The Range). My piggies tend to dirty the area with the Fitch and the hay trays the most. I empty...
hello I was wondering if you are supposed to put tissue inside hideaways like you would with a hamster so guinea pigs can make a nest or is paper bedding like fitch fine on the bottom.
