I've started taking my piggies outside in a large dog crate with no bottom. I supervise them at all times, never more than half a foot away. I use no pesticides on my lawn, which is mostly made of weeds (clovers, dandelions, etc) with a little grass, so I've been letting them graze. I've only...
I have a new girl, she has been eating handpicked grass for a few days and today had 2 hours out on the grass with no ill effects .Can i increase grazing time by 2 hours a day?
Just give extra hay.
Mine normally grazeon the lawn pretty much dawn til dusk (weather and heat permitting) but my lawn is brown and straggly as well now so they’re are still going out when they can but have hay in the run rather than grass
I am so sorry you had to make that decision it must be heartbreaking 💐
I am certain Pepper is happily grazing in fields of all of his favourite treats over The Rainbow Bridge 🌈
I give a variety of dried and fresh forage (dried in winter. Summer they get fresh mostly (plus being on the lawn all day grazing) and still some dried).
I give several items in rotation just for variety really
The absence of a grazing lawn doesn’t mean you can’t keep piggies. Many of us have lawns that may be unsuitable for piggies or no lawn at all. If you keep your piggies inside and give them a large run that’s absolutely fine. You can then give them grass that you have cut from a safe area (away...
So great preparing for Spring. Will your piggies go out to grazeonce it's warm enough? Chez strong voice should tell the vet he has good breathing 🔊❤️🍪🍪🍪
It’s about finding a balance in the diet.
I personally feed my piggies more than one cup of veg per day and in summer they are on grass all day (they’re actually getting a bit of grazing time on the lawn now) but I don’t feed pellets.
Sending best wishes
Just an abscess, apparently! She had to have some brief general anaesthetic because she was understandably fussing a lot, but they drained it in a matter of seconds; she's on antibiotics and painkillers for the next week.
She got home about 7 hours ago, but she still seems a little off - her...
It's a small graze, and since using Mupirocin, it has decreased so it isn't obvious anymore. It's healed a lot, and I probably won't need it from tomorrow.
Mine get a bit over a cup worth of veg. I don’t feed pellets much - they get around five pellets each twice a week.
During summer in addition to their veg, they also get around 14 hours per day grazing time on the grass
I use a water filter as I live in an area with very hard water. Fresh grass is usually their favourite food, but you need to add it to the diet carefully. If left standing it ferments so remove any uneaten grass and build up the amount offered slowly to avoid bloat. Introducing your piggies to...
