    Insulate Outside Hutch in Summer?

Thanks for tagging me in @Qualcast&Flymo and @Claire W. You should leave both covers on in summer and winter as @Lady Kelly has already advised. I have the same hutch as Lady Kelly and I also keep my covers on all year round and do the same as her. One thing you may find useful is to put a...

Can anyone offer advice or reassurance

Hi and welcome! Please have your boys vet checked for ringworm tomorrow and then take the bill and diagnosis to the pet shop for reimbursement; which is a highly contagious fungal infection that can also transmit to humans and other pet species. Good hygiene and proper treatment is key to get...

Potential fighting males. With new male rabbits in same area.

I once put my two boars in a beautiful 6ft Rabbit hutch we got given by one of our relatives. It was used by a rabbit previously, cleaned and disinfected and in fab condition. I thought the boys would love the extra space. They went absolutely bonkers, I had to separate them for 3 hours until...

Eye, Sebaceous Cyst & Fungal issues all at once :(

Looks like the fogger is an aerosol type version that is activated in the room (no pets present) & it settles in all the nooks & crannies, apparently its used in veterinary surgeries/theatres. I was thinking it would settle throughout the shed in a fine mist. But I wont buy it if its no good. I...

    Mould inside hutch

I would get a new hutch but as your partner is insisting that it'll be fine with a good wash....... If it's just surface mould and hasn't actually got into the wood, give it a VERY good clean with F10. I mean completely go over the top and spray every where including all the doors and all the...

Hard lumpy fur and scab on lip

Please still give them a bath (any skin treatment needs 48 hours to get properly to work, so you have to fit that in around the ivermectin) as creaming is not taking care of any spores. I am very sorry, but vets often are not quite aware how important this angle is; if it IS ringworm, creaming...

    Mystery mould

Hi. My piggies are currently outside still as the weather has been very mild (they will come in when it gets a bit frosty). This year they’re enjoying a new 5ft Chartwell and I bought both the hutch snuggle and hugger to go with it. However the last couple of weeks I’ve noticed white furry or...

    Ringworm again, please help...

It's horrible isn't it! I need to buy some F10 as i've read that's good for killing fungal spores, then i can give their hutch a good clean out. I love my piggies so much, they're great little characters and lovely to cuddle, but this constant ringworm/fungal problem is actually making me...

    Maggots or something more?

Take your piggies to the vet to check they don't have flystrike and thoroughly deep clean your cage. I use F10 (a vetinary grade disinfectant that kills everything nasty) every week in my hutch and do a thorough deep clean at least every 4 weeks (every 2 weeks in the summer). Good luck.

    Using F10 disinfectant

Hi people, I’ve bought some F10 vetinary disinfectant to use when cleaning out the boys hutch. Do I use this every single time or just now and then? Please note I have a wooden hutch not c&c. I’ll obviously be reading the usage instructions when it arrives but wondered if anyone could advise...

    Need Advice after mite-treatment

Hi! For an occasional cage or hutch deep clean (not a regular clean) we recommend vet grade F10 disinfectant, which is also proven to kill ringworm spores (as the only one). It is widely available online and something I'd strongly recommend to have at home. When you bathe piggies, please do...

    New guineapig bonding worries

Hi all, I'm hoping I can get some advice on my current piggy situation, I have 3 female guineapigs, all around the age of 5 months, 1 slightly younger. They live in an outdoor double tier hutch, 2ftx6ft with a connecting ramp between floors. We bought Bramble and Kupo as a pair a month ago...

    Making an indoor run

As it’s indoor, I’d use fleece. Mine are out in the shed and have their hutch standing in the middle of their run in the shed. They have a mix of beddings. Fleece in the run and finacard and hay in the hutch. The hay does stick to the fleece and can clog washing machines but there are ways...
