Cage feedback and suggestions (non c&C) including swapping to fleece bed

Yes you can put puppy pads down and then just a fleece blanket on top of them. You don’t need proper liners if you don’t want to, or use pads and a blanket to see how you get on with fleece before buying proper liners. My boys live in my shed but I use fleece in summer and I only use...

    Infection (ear and/or urinary tract?)

Apologies in advance if this is long. I tend to overshare because who knows what COULD be relevant or important. We have four boars, all living separately, but next to each other. One boy, Mortimer, who is a one-year-old skinny pig, is the biggest momma's boy. He loves to cuddle, will BEG for...

New guinea pig owner with an odd situation....advice welcome!

Hey everyone, So I've recently become a guinea pig owner (kind of) through odd circumstances... I'm an elementary school teacher. Before Winter Break, one of the kindergarten teachers asked me if I could take care of her classroom pet for her over the Winter Break because she knows I love...

    Betsy's Guinea Pigs

I have these https://vetfleece.com/shop/inconti-pet-washable-training-pad/ underneath the fleece and I have cut to fit my hutch. My fleeces I got from C&C Fleece Cage Liners, Sacks, Hides, Beds, Tunnels, Forage. In the winter I change them twice a week and I find they don't get damp. They...

    Fleece lined bedding.

It works for some and not others. I preferred it because it cut down on the mess and also the waste. You would need at least two liners. One waiting in the wings while the other is being used. It would need something absorbent underneath - puppy pads (disposable or washable), zorb etc. Towels...

    Guinea pig just not happy!

Hi Your instincts seem to be working perfectly well. Guinea pigs are prey animals that suppress any telltale symptoms to an astonishing degree; once they show them, they are usually already very ill. It doesn't make a vet's work any easier. Please step in feeding support since what she is...

    Indoor Hutch/Cage Recommendations

We currently have a Bluebell outdoor hutch with a thermal cover, but being a softy I am already concerned our little pigs are going to get too cold over the winter. So I decided I'll bring the hutch indoors. I currently line the hutch with wood shavings but wasn't sure we wanted the inevitable...

    Leaky bedding?

I'm guessing here so it could be a few things... It could well be that the pad didn't dry properly as the waterproof layer will prevent drying through the bottom half (50% less efficient). This is after a wash or after it has been peed on - the liquid will only be able to dry/evaporate away...

New home! Am I missing anything?

Hey, so since we got the boys last week I have been thinking their cage seemed a bit small for them even with them being so small (120cmx50cm) I then found out from the forum that I was 100% correct (why do P@H say that the cage I have is suitable for 2 guineas? They have agreed to refund the...

    Newbie, set up inspiration?

Hello and thank you for having me here, looking forward to learning lots about looking after piggies from you all. We are hoping to rehome a pair of guinea pigs as soon as one becomes available locally and are getting ready. I've ordered a Ferplast 140 and a couple of fleece liners and cuddle...

Are my piggies missing out? (Extended cage instead of floor time)

I have two sows, sisters, nearly a year old, and I want to check my cage set up and floor time set up are good for them. I also have a chronic pain disorder which makes it difficult with some aspects, which is why I have the set up I have - I just want to make sure I'm not missing something in...

    C&C Cage with lids?

I have a lid on mine which I created using door-grids which rotate 180 degrees here, very handy. There is also a blog post about how to make lids on C&C cages here. They recommend not to have a lid bigger than 4x4

    DIY fleece cage liner advice

Hi. I was just wondering how people make there own fleece liners. I hear polar fleece works best on top, what do people put in the middle/under as the absorbant layer? Any advice or links to info is greatly appreciated 😊 thank you

    Some fleece advice please.

It depends on how absorbent the mattress protector is. You can trial it if you wish to but you may find that it is not enough. Google for cheap cotton beach towels; there are currently quite a few bargains around because of very low demand.

    Member Gallery: C&C cages/homemade cages

What is it and how much did it cost? Here is my new C&C cage! It’s star-themed. the cage itself cost me about £80 to make, the accessories (including material to make the liners and cozies) were about £200 total. Who lives there? On the right side of the cage live 2 boars. It’s a 3x3. On the...

How to make cage liner for 8 ft x 3ft cage?

If I wanted to make a cage liner for a 8x3 foot cage do they make a mattress cover for a cage that size? Or would quilt batting work if I put it between 2 layers of fleece?

Hello everyone! :) I'll try to explain everything as good as possible so this post may be long, but here are some information beforehand that I think could be useful for what my problem is: I have three guinea pigs in total as of right now, 1 male and 2 female. Kiri is the male and about 5-6...
