I posted a story on here about my beloved chunk on may 21st 2021. I wanted to share the next and last part with you all as it’s been a really tough day. Hope you enjoy my final story.
The next and final chapter…
April 2023. Another move for gumbo. And another upgrade to his home. This time...
I got a guinea pig cage!
I also got a playpen for floor time!
And today, the day after Christmas (at least here in the western U.S.A) I got 2 guinea pigs!
You will still need to find a cool place for them to go when the shed is too warm in summer. Is there part of the garden in constant shade where you can place a cage/run for the hottest part of the day? (With frozen bottles to lay against and other cooling measures).
Mine have never been...
They would have been 3 years a herd of 6 on 28th December, that's 3 years since Blodwen joined the other 5 and they got a new extended cage format for Christmas with the extra 3x2 area added in... that's over half their life as a bonded group...
But those bonds are fracturing a bit now without...

Oh another note i would like to ask! I am going to get a new cage for them during Christmas time, would it be wise to buy the cage sooner so i could do the bonding in the new cage as it is completely new and easier to re-arrange?
Hi,
I could really do with some advice about whether of not to keep trying to find a friend for my almost 5 year old sow Puffin.
Over Christmas she lost her sister Panda who she had lived with her whole life.
We have since tried to bond her with a 4 year old sow, but that failed, we tried...
Thank you for these words, really means something. I do have one question though. I don't know what to do with her homemade cage; even cleaning the cage, it seems so hard for me to let go of her bedding. I am also thinking about collecting some of her hair and maybe even some of the bedding and...
Hello, new piggy grandma here!
This may be long, bare with me.
I have never had pets growing outside a rescue dog I rehabilitated once as a 16yr old for a hot minute, my kids never had pets either so we are really new at this. For christmas I got my 17 year old son a guinea pig as a support...
We just introduced our 7 last week actually, we had 4 in one cage and 3 in the other. They were neighbors and could smell each other all the time, and popped their heads up over the coroplast to sniff faces but that was it. The introductions went as expected, minor fights, mostly nose-off's...
Hi everyone, I'm new and have questions!
My husband loves Guinea Pigs and had several while he was growing up. I'm considering getting him a pair for Christmas and I want to be sure that if I do then we will be able to care for them properly (before I surprise him)
I had a rabbit when I was...
hello! I have very good news- my piggies are getting a new cage at Christmas! It will be a diy cage made out of wood ( I will post pictures when it happens) but I wanna get a new water bottle. Since it will not be a metal cage my water bottles will not work. Does anyone have any idea what I can do?
Temp is constant. Light bulb just blew so she will be in the dark until I can get out to the store tomorrow for a new one lol. Happy christmas lol.
It is the only room I can keep the cat p7t of so it is the safest place for her until she can go in the cage.
Yes, it's game-on. George has been incredibly active today, bouncing and rumbling all over the shop. He's delighted to be back in with the ladies. He essentially unbunged himself - there was very little for me to clear. After 2 days of listening to Flora trying to nose-bump a shrill Louise out...
Hubby has bought some of the presents to give out to family and friends. We don't know if we'll be able to give it away by Christmas though. MIL has already received our gift to her though. It's a tablet to replace her broken tablet. I also just ordered the personalised cards (like you...
Hello! I curentalu have 3 boars and have a couple questions on their cage setup. Their current cage is 2 Midwest cages that I cut the liners to be put to together so there weren’t any dividers. This is likely around 15 square ft? Anyway, my newest guy is Mickey, the smallest tan/ blonde and...
I posted on here a while back about my 5 year old Abyssinian Rosie. Back in September, she was originally diagnosed with cervical lymphadenitis after taking her to the emergency vet. Around November during another trip to the normal vet, it was determined that she had not gotten better with her...
BIG HUGS
I am so very sorry but you have done absolutely the right thing. Muschi couldn't have found a more loving and caring piggy home. She and Eden would likely not have lived for as long without having found you.
But I am so sorry about you and her mother - no end to the worries. :(
My...
