Hi Merab! I think I'm going to keep them within a 2x6 C and C for now, separated in the middle. We have an elderly hamster in the same room at the moment so we can't extend, but in the future I will be upgrading to two 2×4s which are next to one another for interaction.
I know no blood was...
Welcome to the forum
Poor piggies. They will improve now they are getting good care
Have they been checked by a vet?
Don’t bathe before seeing a vet. Bathing or using any products can hide physical markers a vet needs to make a diagnosis of a problem so only bathe after the vet has seen them...
...unless I am able to do a stacked version but ive read so many horror stories about them bowing and collapsing on pigs! So I'm wondering how bad stacked cages really are? If I cant do a stacked c&c then they will have to have their own room! While this sounds fun I dont know how they will cope!
Yes, the C&C cages are so flexible they lend themselves to convenient stacking. The piggies with the divided cages could be at the bottom and the pair at the top. You would be able to keep all of your piggies in the sand footprint as the original cage 👍❤️
Thank you so much for your advice it’s much appreciated! So many people on a different platform were saying about vitamin c and bathing him and putting coconut oil on him which just sounded traumatic but so great to have clarication x
...have occurred, they will need to be separated permanently. Unfortunately you cannot ever rebond any boars who have fought.
A pair need a 5x2 c&c
Each single needs a a 3x2 c&c as a minimum but a 4x2 is recommended.
As long as the two singles remain next to each other, then c&c cages can be...
Ok, so it looks like we'll be getting this cage 2x5 C&C Guinea Pig Cage - Mesh Grid - C and C Guinea Pig Cages
with 1x2 loft, no lid (household is just 2 adults and an 11-year-old, no other pets), and a stand.
We'll also get 3 2x3 fleeces - enough for 2 in the cage and 1 in the wash.
Anything...
I’d hoped @Piggies&buns would be along
You’ve had great advice and as @weepweeps has said if all your boys are together prepare for a risk of fallouts as they get older
I hope you feel reassured and always ask anything you’re unsure of
Can’t wait to see some pigtures …….just saying 🥰
Have finally made my first C&C cage. It’s a 4x2 with double stand. So far the girls are very nervous but think they’ll love it. I’ve put a photo of their previous cage for reference.
I have 6 sows in 5x2 stacked c&c cage and I have one hide per pig but with summer weather fast approaching and already hot tempretures in the UK I need to consideranother hide alternitive for their safety and health. I have mostly dominant and stubborn sows who refuse to share. I can't drape a...
...rather in a small ‘summer house’ type shed which we are going to kit out (oil heater, curtains, window seals etc) but obviously they are in a c&c cage currently, i am assuming because they are more outside i will need to get a hutch? and what does this mean for fleece? no more? this also...
I have managed to squeeze a 5 x almost 2 table top c and c grid cage into my bedroom.
It is held together with cable ties and will be getting a roof soon.
Shimmer and Shetti are very happy in it!.
The key is whether there is any underlying health issue or whether it is age related.
Were his teeth checked etc?
Any chance he has arthritis and whether pain from that is causing a reduction in appetite?
Making sure he has lots of hay and supplementing with critical care is really all you...
I provide a 6x2 C&C cage for my two piggies who live indoors. I don’t know what the set requirements are for a rescue but it’s to ensure the best quality of life for the guinea pigs they help re-home.
My sister had 39 C, living and working just outside Basel in Switzerland. I was still in Switzerland when they hit 38.4 C in the 80ies and it was just HOT, so I totally feel for you. :(
I ended up ordering a custom made one (2of them) from c and c cosies. Brilliant and uses that zorb material. It’s much thinner and wicks brilliantly. I have it pinned on top of the correx now. I will see how much it shrinks, but I tried catering for that when I sent measurements :)
