    Two baby sows - advice

Thank you! I think they are both sassy and both strong personalities. Both are happy though I wouldn't say anyone displayed any stressed behaviour. I plan to observe more & then i can make a decision on a trial separation. Hopefully not though, ive already had to sell my couch In the front room...

    Fleece Forest/Hide Options

I'm using bendy bridges and plastic igloos as a main hide but I find they are taking up too much room and my pigs still disgree on them no matter how many exits or hides you give. I'm not a huge fan of fleece but I don't mind hides. Ive been wondering can I remove all current hides and change...

south facing living room in new house

Thank you 🙏 I tried putting up sheets behind my very thin curtains and it made the room nice and quiet, but I would like a better system than sheets and clothes pegs. The curtains you use are great ♥️ 🪟

It’s getting hot! Are you ready? 🥵

Enjoying the cooler days. Has it cooled down where you are now @Helen C? Wally decided to snooze on the (cold)stone under his water bottle last night, so I supplied him with a frozen pad instead, which he went to snooze on for 5mins. Random pig- room was 22C, and he hadn’t shown any interest...

    Indoor enclosure advice

Hi all, looking at an indoor enclosure for 2 bonded sows. We will be adopting once we have our enclosure sorted. I'm looking at this 180cm length guinea enclosure from hamster homes as it looks sturdy and could work well in our dining room. Its 60cm wide and would have 2 houses (with 2 doors on...

    Overwhelmed (a bit)

I am really thankful for this forum really. I did read about Bordetella even before the first vet mentioning it that's why the moment she mentioned it i did not feel she was saying the right thing. Kreacher was only wheezing once a week before followed by a big sneeze then gone. I had an idea it...

Are oil radiation’s safe to leave on overnight?

Hello @YvonneBlue I have a single skinny pig Freddy who lives with furry friend Geoff in an c&c and I wondered what is the best room temperature for a skinny pig during the Winter. Geoff is nearly 6 and has a bit of arthritis so warmth does help him too I’m buying an oil filled radiator for...

Patrick has a lump and a bladder stone and an abscess 😔

Sadly, we have not had a great couple of months. We have lost both our skinny pigs. Pongo to lymphoma and then Val succumbed to her genetic heart defect. For the first time in 10 years we have no skinnies and it seems quiet in the piggy room without their constant wheeking. The other piggies...

    Lonely guinea advice

Hi, I’m new to the group and hoping for some advice. I have a single guinea pig who’s about 5 years old (got her at 3 weeks). When I first got her, we had another piggy, but they had to stay in separate rooms with supervised playtime because they would fight no matter what we tried. Over the...

    Truffle and Polo

Truffle: some pigs have all the luck. My fur is short at the mo, do you think Bridget would fancy me? ❤️

    Solo piggie after bereavement

In the space of two and a half months I've gone from a herd of three guinea pigs to - as of today - a lone remaining piggie, Sandie. I'm hoping soon to bond her with another guinea pig from our local rescue (Suzy at GGPR, well known to the forum). However, there'll be a period of at least two...

Are oil radiation’s safe to leave on overnight?

Sorry I'm so late responding to this. Back at work and also have a poorly piggy. We keep the piggy room around 19 or 20C all night. We find if we set the thermostat on the heater at 20C this means it turns on when it gets just below this temperature. Worth getting a digital thermometer to keep...

    2 story hutch

There is no real answer to how long it takes - some piggies will learn quickly, others never do. Putting them at the top or the bottom doesn’t really matter. Remember climbing is not natural to guinea pigs and they prefer their living to be single storey (so double storey hutches are not ideal...

    Boars in Stockholm (Kongos diary)

I was trying to sleep when slave came stomping into the living room, looked at me, said she's not sure if I'm chubby or hairy and she will find out tomorrow. The scissors are coming, pigs! Help me! Hairy Harry

What to put on bottom of c&c cage?

Not sure about Canada but in the US the sheeting is called Coroplast. There are various youtubers that show how to score and fit it. Scottie's Animals and The Pig Room spring to mind. In the US it can be purchased in Home Depot, I don't know if they have those where you are.

Sorry that you’ve had such a difficult time. So sorry for your losses. Glad Arfur is doing well.

    The Wheaky Beans herd

Just been watching my guinea pig TV (The Wheak Show) from the living room and witnessed Macchiato run around with zoomies for a few laps of the cage and she is now resting. Thankfully, she isn’t feeling sad about her diagnosis and is completely oblivious! 🥰

    Storage for the Piggies Things

I feel this…. Pretty much every cupboard has something for the guinea pigs in - whenever I need something for the guineas I can never remember exactly where it is and it’s a full on hunt to find it! At this point it’s wherever it fits!

    Taking the piggies on holiday?

We sometimes take our piggies away with us. Sometimes they go to boarding. Our boys have all done very well on car journeys with masses of hay in the carriers & plenty of picnic stops for veggie snacks, to help with hydration. We find piggie stuff takes up as much room in the car as human...
